Lets start this first step with some real simple shapes and guidelines to form a nice frame for the black lab. Start with a small circle for the head and draw two lines for the beginning lines of the snout as shown. Now draw a big egg shape for his t

This is how your black lab should come out looking after you are done. That was pretty darn easy I'd say. Now just color him in and remember you don't have to color him black. He could be yellow or brown as well. That will do it for this tutorial on

Description: Hello all and how are you. I am your fellow artist, and my name is Dawn. Let me start this tutorial by first saying I hope each and everyone of you had an awesome 4th of July (to those who celebrate it anyway). Well today on DragoArt.com I will be showing you "how to draw a Labrador". The reason for this tutorial choice is because I was watching old family movies over the holiday weekend and saw myself as a young child. As a child I had a family pet that was owned by my grandfather who lived a few cities from where I lived. Anyways, the family pet was a black lab and his name was King. King was a very protective dog that wandered around the neighborhood chasing cats and hanging at the Tee Pee’s which was a surrounding small beach that everybody use to go to hang out and have some fun. King always followed me and my uncles down there and often went swimming with us. He was a very friendly, lovable, loyal lab that never ran away from home and he never tried to bite any of us even when we pulled his tail and yanked on his ears. For a Labrador retriever, he was pretty big. The average sized lab is around 80 pounds and that is the biggest for a male. King weighed more like 110-120, he was a big boy but very healthy as well. Typically retrievers have a short, smooth, oily coat and come in three colors for pure breeds which is black, chocolate, and yellow. Some yellow labs will have a pink nose instead of a black nose that most of us are use to seeing. Labradors also have very large litters when they become pregnant. The size usually runs between ten to twelve pups and have an expected life span of up to thirteen years. King on the other hand probably impregnated every dog in the neighborhood and he lived for a good fifteen years. I remember when our King got old, his personality became that of an elder having little energy and he very rarely left the yard anymore which is how we knew that he had died somewhere because one day he disappeared from the back yard and never returned. We all suspect that King took his last and final walk down by the Tee Pee’s to the very same place where he was a spunky active youthful pup that loved playing and being silly. I loved King my black lab and I was very sad when I realized that he would never return to put a smile on my face again. This tutorial goes out to my beloved King who always protected me when I walked the neighborhood from the common threats of life. So I will teach you all "how to draw a Lab", step by step with real simple instructions. I hope you enjoyed my story of my childhood friend that will always hold a special place in my heart.
