Okay, simply draw the oblong shape of the butterfly's body and then draw the antenna/feelers.

2

Here you will draw the first portion of the butterfly wings like so, and these can be in any style or shape you like. Be creative.

3

To finish the formation of the butterfly off, you will simply draw the second section of wings like so. Notice how the lining has a wavy or rugged outine.

4

Begin adding the design pattern along the bottom or mid section of the lower wing.

5

You will line up the pattern you just made to draw the same lining on the upper wings.

6

Lastly, draw the veins on the inside of the wing pattern shapes, and make sure the lining starts at the base of the butterfly's body. Erase your mistakes then you will be done.

7

Color in the butterfly black, add some lighter shades along the blackness, then you are done.

Description: I have two things that are either gonna be black, or have black in the title names. I will start with this first one on "how to draw a black butterfly", step by step. Now I know there are actual black butterflies in existence, but this one is not based on any black species of butterfly. The actual black butterfly is so beautiful. It is a velvet black, with luminous white eye spots on the wings. The species from from Polynesia, and if you type in black Polynesian butterfly you will see w series of photos of the insect. I hope you like my grungy style black butterfly, I tried making it as simple as possible.
