Wow! That`s amazing! But could you give me some advices for how to make the proportions right? I`m always getting the body too long or the head too big. :( Would really appreciate some help if you had the time. :)

No, not oil and water/acrylic colors on the same work. Sorry should have made that distinction. Also, I’m just working on test pieces. I’ve only drawn a small handful of faces that look like… faces. I haven’t the faith in my skills with the new tools to practice shading on a face that took hours to create! I use linseed oil, little odor and less spinning head. In the past I have made a Bob Ross styled "liquid white" to coat a canvas when I wanted to make the colors to blend easier and make a Bob Ross looking landscape with friendly little trees. I tried the liquid white just a few minutes ago, it was fairly translucent, allows layers well enough but pretty messy if you touch it accidentally. A fairly thick application was needed to cover graphite well. Even with the heated air to make a quick skin, the full cure time is days away. So it will be a while before I’ll know if there was any bleed through after it fully cures. I will play with the Old Holland watercolor again this weekend. This time in a less watered down application At lunch today I thought of your sandpaper technique mentioned in an old post. I used an old high grit ink eraser in lieu of the sandpaper and it lightened well with an okay fade, but it looks like one had better get it correct the first time as the paper will get too thin very quickly. I was using standard printer paper so there maybe more room for corrections on a thicker and toothier, (is tha

wowjawdrop You poor man! You literally washed with watercolor!!! How you finished your art project is a bit of a miracle. You have to post the work here... take a photograph of it. I gotta see the results. Well, since oils and water don't mix, you should have a sci-fi, surrealistic, modern painting with tiny bio tech bubbles! B) Okay, enough of my bantering. I agree oils have a wonderful way of being more easily controlled, even blending has its magical effect. You're smart for using a heated air gun. I've tried oils and let it air dry before the next layer. Okay... washes for oils. Use about one-fourth cup of refined linseed oil. Then whatever base color you need... like a dot of sepia brown would do for a canvas... uhm... about 16"x22". Medium or light textured canvas sheets (I guess you call them paper) are great too. When you brush over the canvas, don't wet it too much because the "watered" down paint will make runs. And have your paper angled at a 45-degrees so it won't drip. That "hair blower", I think, will do wonders drying this fast for you. Consider this experimental and compensate or make room for errors then adjust. Oils are opaque. To make them a bit more transparent is by thinning them (linseed i think). Turpentine is a cleaner... it can thin too. I guess u need to google to find out which is best to use. Let me know if this is helpful to you. omgomg
