dess of pastels, master of portraits... Just well done with what you do. Keep up the good work!

Okay, enough of my bantering. I agree oils have a wonderful way of being more easily controlled, even blending has its magical effect. You're smart for using a heated air gun. I've tried oils and let it air dry before the next layer. Okay... washes for oils. Use about one-fourth cup of refined linseed oil. Then whatever base color you need... like a dot of sepia brown would do for a canvas... uhm... about 16"x22". Medium or light textured canvas sheets (I guess you call them paper) are great too. When you brush over the canvas, don't wet it too much because the "watered" down paint will make runs. And have your paper angled at a 45-degrees so it won't drip. That "hair blower", I think, will do wonders drying this fast for you. Consider this experimental and compensate or make room for errors then adjust. Oils are opaque. To make them a bit more transparent is by thinning them (linseed i think). Turpentine is a cleaner... it can thin too. I guess u need to google to find out which is best to use. Let me know if this is helpful to you.
