How to Draw Alex, A Clockwork Orange

Begin with a simple medium sized circle for the head of Alex, and then sketch in the face and neck guides.

Here you will begin lightly sketching out Alex's hat. The side and top of hat is cut off as you can see. Draw in the band, as well as the lip or lid detailing like so.

All you have to do here is sketch out the sides of Alex's hair. As you can see it is short, level with his cheek, and curls inward like so. Add the detailing and definition, and you are ready to move to step four.

Simply sketch out Alex's face structure and then draw the tops of each eye lid.

You will now work on getting the eyes sketched out. You have the top lids drawn, so all you have to do is finishing sketching out the shape of each eye, and then draw in the eyeballs. Color in the pupils, and then on the eye to the left, begin sketch

Sketch in the shape of the nose from a semi top view like so, and add in some light crease marks on the sides of the nostrils.

You are almost done drawing one of the movie industries most popular character. All you have to do now is simply sketch in the lower lip, and draw a smirk the same way you see here.

Sketch out Alex's neck shape, and then draw the shirt collar like so, and then sketch the shoulders which is also covered by the shirts material. Draw the collar button, and begin cleaning up your drawing to prepare it for color.

Here is what your drawing looks like when you are all done. Now you can get busy either coloring him in, or leaving this as a sketch. Either way I hope you enjoy this tutorial.

Description: Welcome back all you crazy artistic members and visitors out there. I have some pretty cool tutorials for you all today and I will start by submitting a lesson on one of my all-time favorite characters from a very old flick that was directed by the late Stanley Kubrick. The name of the movie is ‘A Clockwork Orange’ and having said that, let me get busy with showing you "how to draw Alex", step by step. Alex is the leader of a group of delinquents that steal, rape, and violate the system. When the group splits up because of Alex’s inconsideration for his mates, he finds out firsthand what it feels like to be inferior to others that disregard his thoughts, emotions, and indifferent concerns about what is going on around him. He is beaten, bruised, tortured, and humiliated just like one of his victims that he used to prey on almost every night. I love this movie as well as Alex DeLarge, all his bloats, and the rest of the characters that helps make A Clockwork Orange a cult classic. Oh, did I mention that the setting takes place in what is called a futuristic version of what Brittan is like. Of course this is coming from the ideas of a mind that was part of the seventies era. Almost all the music is from Ludwig Van Beethoven, and if you didn’t know, this is mainly due to the fact that Alex is absolutely in passionate love with all of Beethoven’s pieces. The colorful and unique design of how Alex portrays what the youth would eventually turn out to be in futuristic Brittan, to a magical tee. I hope you are familiar with A Clockwork Orange because it truly is a movie worth watching especially if you appreciate the concept of poetry and truth within a film.
