How to Draw the Lorax, The Lorax, Lorax

1

Begin with a circle for the head shape, and then draw out the facial guidelines.

2

Using the facial guidelines, draw in the large almond shaped eyes, and then draw out the nose like you see here.

3

Next, draw in the eyeballs, and then color in some eyeballs. Add some detailing to the eyes by sketching out some bag like lids.

4

What you will do here is sketch out the top of Lorax's head and then begin sketching out the bushy eyebrows like so. Add some detailing and definition to the eyes, and then move to step five.

5

Now that the eyes are all drawn out you can start sketching out the big busy mustache. The edges of the mustache should be pointed and sort of spread apart. Draw in a lip, and then move along.

6

Almost done guys, here you will only need to sketch out the body of the Lorax, and notice how the lining should be bushy and long. Add some detailing and then draw out the arms.

7

And for the last drawing step all you have to do is sketch out the detailing for the mustache like you see here. When you're done all you need to do next is start cleaning up the drawing.

8

Here is what the popular Dr. Seuss character looks like when you are all done drawing it out. Now you can have fun coloring in your work to really finish it off.

Description: I’d like to say that the next three tutorials are going to be on some really cool characters. The truth is, I am going to submit some figures from an upcoming Dr. Seuss based movie called “The Lorax”. If you grew up reading Dr. Seuss books, you may or may not be familiar with the characters or story. Up first I’m going to show you "how to draw the Lorax", step by step. This character is one of the main figures of the book. When trying to pin point what type of creature Lorax is, there is really only one way to describe what there is no name for. As it states in the book the Lorax is “shortish, brownish, and oldish, and mossy, and he spoke with a voice that was sharpish and bossy”. This little brown figure actually looks a little bit like Wilford Brimley, you know, the guy that was in the movie adaption of Stephen King’s book The Thing. He was the old guy that they kept locked up in solitary confinement. Anyways, I think Lorax is cute, but he is also a little creepy too. The Lorax is overly protective of the Truffula Trees as he is the caretaker of the Truffula Tree forest. He is also always on a constant mission to warn the Once-ler about the consequences to cutting down the trees. The only way to understand what the heck I’m talking about is to either read the book, or wait until May of 2012 to buy a ticket and see the 3D CGI movie in theaters. Anyways, this is going to be a fun, bright and colorful tutorial on "how to draw the Lorax". I hope you like it, and if you want more characters from the Dr. Seuss movie, stay tuned in because there is more on the way!
