There is an animal that people keep as pets that I have never made a tutorial out of. I have lessons on hamsters, rabbits, and other caged pets, but I never taught you guys "how to draw a gerbil". If you're confused on what exactly a gerbil is, let me explain. They are sometimes confused with hamsters, but they look more like mice. They have a long tail just like a mouse, but at the tip of the tail is a bundle of fur or a tuft. Unlike mice, the tails are also covered by fur, and the gerbils whiskers seem to be a bit longer. Like the hamster they are active in their cage, and seem to keep their owners entertained without a question. They like to play, they don't bit, and if you are not one of those people that gets creeped out over rodents, the gerbil is a very friendly pet to hold and admire. Kids love watching gerbils because they are small animals that do crazy things. Gerbils come in a variety of colors but the most common is the two toned shade of tan, and white. One of the great things about owning a gerbil is the fact that they don't require a lot of room, their cages give off little or no odor, you don't have to really maintain them as much as you would with a rat, mouse, or hamster, and they won't nip at your fingers, hands, or face. I never owned a gerbil before but my cousin did and I can remember watching that little thing play all the time. She named him Stash because he had a weird line that went straight across his lip under the nose. Stash was a cool gerbil and even though I forgot to draw that small dash like line on him, the gerbil in the lesson is based on Stash. I think you will enjoy drawing a gerbil because even though they are from the rodent family, they are much cuter to look at than a mouse or rat. Have fun guys and remember to stick around to see what else I have in store for ya'll.
