Description: Speaking of Halloween in the previous tutorial, let’s talk more on the subject. There is another figure that is associated with this sweet smelling holiday. Typically used as a tool to scare off scavenging black crows, the scarecrow has been apart of farming fields for decades. Country folks originated this human sized hay filled mannequin to keep feeding birds away from freshly seeded crops as well as cornfields. Birds are not easily scared off if the scarecrow is not scary enough. In this tutorial I will be showing you how to draw a scarecrow. Now it is not likely for crop hording birds (like the black crow) to fly and hang out in areas that are being occupied by humans. If the scarecrow you build for your field isn’t human like then you will most likely still have a problem with birds feeding on your crops. A scarecrow is a life sized dummy that is attached to a tall sturdy pole that is pried in the ground. After a while scarecrows were adopted as being some what of a mascot for the Halloween holiday. During the month of October you are most likely to see leaf filled scarecrows sitting in the front of homes as they lay as a decoration for the Halloween season. Scarecrows are mostly made with a long sleeve shirt, a pair of beat up jeans, a pillowcase filled with yard leaves for a head or a medium sized pumpkin, a pair of old boots, and sticks for hands and arms. When my family makes a scarecrow for the holidays we usually try and make his face real scary to creep out trick or treaters that come to our door for candy. I love Halloween, it is the one holiday that I can become anyone or anything I want and totally get away with it. In this tutorial I will show you "how to draw a scarecrow step by step". I hope you have fun with this tutorial, when you are done you can paste him on your door when October approaches in a month. Or you could just print out the one I already drew, color him in and then past him as a decal in your window. I will be back with more free online drawing lessons in a bit, so stick around and stay busy until I return. Peace out.
