How to Draw a Jack o Lantern

Step 1.

Start this first simple step by drawing a nice round circle for the shape of the pumpkin. Next draw a long straight line from above the top, down through the middle. Next draw another two lines going across the front of the pumpkin. These are what you call facial guidelines.

Step 2.

Next in this step you will then start drawing out the shape of the top portion pf the pumpkin starting with the piece of vine that is usually still attached in the middle of the vegetable. You will now start drawing out the bold rigged lines that all pumpkins have. Next draw out the two mean looking eyes and then the beginning shape of the scary looking mouth.

Step 3.

In this next step you will shape out more of the pumpkins frame as shown. Pumpkins have bumpy surfaces so you really have to try and define that in this step. After you have drawn out the shape of the Jack o Lantern you are now ready to start detailing inside the eyes to make it look like it has some kind of dimension. After that you can finish off the shape of the mouth.

Step 4.

In this last step all you will be doing is detailing the steam with some definition lines as well as the bottom of the pumpkin. You will also need to detail inside of the eyes a bit more as well as the right corner inside of the mouth. You can now start erasing all the guidelines you drew in step one.

Step 5.

This is what your finished Jack o Lantern pumpkin should look like when you are completely done. All you need to do now is color him in and that is it. You can even print out this finished line art and use it as stencil for your own pumpkin when Halloween approaches in the upcoming month. You have just completed this tutorial on how to draw a Jack o Lantern step by step. I hope you had fun with this tutorial I will be back in a bit with more drawing fun.
