1

Lets begin drawing a cacti. Start by making a line down the middle, and then draw two side lines which will form a fork like drawing.

2

Using the guidelines you drew in step one, you will need to draw out the actual shape of the cactus like you see here. A stem in the middle, and two arms.

3

Now you can draw out a few smaller new cacti sprouting from the bottom of the main cactus like you see here.

4

Draw in the vertical lines on the plant, and be sure to draw two long lines in the middle, and two each arm like you see here.

5

For the last drawing step, you have to first erase the guidelines you drew in step one, and then you can draw out the prickly spines all over the cacti until your plant comes out looking like a plant.

6

Here is what the finished drawing looks like when you are all done. Now you can go ahead and color in the plant.

Description: Here is a tutorial on a plant that I haven’t drawn in a while. Today I will be showing you "how to draw cacti", step by step. 'Cacti' is another word for saying cactus. These plants are very sturdy, but if you want to keep an indoor garden of a few cactus plants you have to make sure they get enough light each day to stay healthy and strong like they do in desert areas like Arizona, Nevada, and even Texas. Cacti plants come in many different sizes, shapes, and even prickliness. Smaller cacti have less prominate spines or pricks, then the larger species of cactus. For instance, if you go into Lowes or Home Depot and run your fingers gently over one of the small window sized cacti plants they have there, you will notice that the spines are very pointy, but sort of soft. Larger cacti plants have thicker, sharper, and heartier spines than smaller cactus plants. Did you know that there are more than two thousand, five hundred species of cactus in existence? It’s true, this species of plant has over twenty five hundred different cousins out in the world. A Swedish botanist named Carl Linnaeus was the first to use the word “cactus” to describe the prickly plant back in the XVIII century. Now like with all species of plants or animals, there has to be a smallest version and a biggest version. For the cacti, the smallest of its kind is the Blossfeldia. This tiny cactus plant can easily fit nice and snug in a teaspoon. The largest cactus plant is native to California, and it’s called the giant Cereus. These plants are described as looking like a chandelier, and they are so big, that they can hold up to two tons of water, pretty amazing huh? Well I guess that’s it, I will be back later with more drawing fun. For now have an awesome time learning "how to draw a cacti", and if you’re interested in looking at both the smallest and largest of the cactus plant, just Google the names I gave you in the description.
