To start drawing the lightning bolts, all you have to do is draw three striking lines in a zig zag motion.

You will now draw out the first lightning bolt like you see here, and then draw out the last bolt which is the largest. When that is all done you can then move to the next step.

Now you will draw out the middle bolt just by outlining the single zig zag line you drew in step one. You might as well erase the lines and shapes that you drew in step one.

You can now start sketching in the detailing to add more texture and definition to the bolts like you see here. The detailing should be done along the edges.

Here is what the finished bolts look like when you are all done. Now you can go ahead and color them in, and then that's all. You now have yourself some awesome lightning bolts that can be used for anything you wish.

Description: Okay, I know there is a lot of folks, members, visitors, and other artists that love art, and tribal art. One of the more popular types of tribal tattoo patterns is of course flames and lightning bolts. Today I am going to show you "how to draw lightning bolts", step by step. This is going to be a very easy lesson to tackle, and it's mainly because they are big, chunky looking bolts that curve or contour into each other. These bolts can be used for a tattoo, animal body art, or even an awesome background lightning image. No matter how you want to "draw lightning bolts", you will without a doubt enjoy learning from this tutorial that teaches you how to do just that. All artists of all levels will be able to tackle this lesson, and when you are done with your drawing, you should submit it to the artwork gallery so everybody else can see how you did, and how you used your bolts in a sketch.
