Here in this next tutorial I am going to show you how to draw an animal, but not just any animal. Today you will be learning how to draw a Snowy Owl or a snow owl. When you think of owls the first thing that comes to mind is a regular looking brownish colored owl with yellow eyes followed by their all time famous bird call “who”. Some people think of that tootsie pop owl that asks the age old question “how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop lollipop“? Or maybe you are one of those people that think of the owl from the Wise potato chip bags. The owl that you will learn how to draw is the very same owl that Harry Potter owns. The snowy owl has an unmistakable appearance, they have a rich creamy milky white or snow white color. These fairly large owls live amongst the Arctic cold where they breed and hunt for their survival. Female snowy owls lay a nest or clutch of three to eleven eggs when breeding season arises. Now the size of a snowy owls clutch all depends on how much they eat. If the food is abundant then a pair of owls can expect to see a large nest of eggs. On the other hand if the food supply is scarce, then the pair of owls will most likely not breed at all. When these particular owls have a nest of eggs or youngin, they get very protective and will defend their large family until the end, even if it means fighting off wolves or foxes. Naturally as with humans and other animals, the white color of the snowy owl gets more radiant with age especially the males were as the females have a darker color with light brushings of spots scattered throughout their plumage. The diet of a snowy owl consist mainly on lemmings. If the food supply is short of their food of choice they will eat rabbits, rodents, fish and other birds. The average lifespan a snowy owl is ten years. They weigh in between four to seven pounds and they are twenty to twenty eight inches. Their wingspan is impressive as well, ranging between four to five feet in width. Snowy owls are normally found in the northern parts of the world but can also be located in the United States as well as Canada, Europe and Asia. All in all these birds are not only beautiful, they are intelligent as well. I will show you "how to draw an owl", step by step with easy to follow instructions. The steps are simple to understand which makes this tutorial a perfect fit. That does it for me for now, I will see you all again soon, real soon.
