How to Draw a Tiger

Step 1.

Draw 3 circles to show where the head and the body will be.

Step 2.

Join the circles together, and draw four lines coming from the body for the legs.

Step 3.

Start doing a basic sketch of the outsides of this bare "skeleton-like" sketch ye just did. However, do not do the head and paws yet. We'll get to that. Do the tail.

Step 4.

Start doing the paws. N.B. - I've showed how a hidden claw looks inside.

Step 5.

Here's a zoomed in version of the before step, focusing only on this one paw. This applies to every cat except the cheetah. The cheetah ain't hiding its claws.

Step 6.

Start to do a basic head. Also, begin to add some details.

Step 7.

Ends of the ears always end at the same point. This applies to most animals.

Step 8.

Eyes go at the top where the smaller part of the head is.

Step 9.

Here, now, add the eyes and more details. Congratulations, ye've sketched a tiger! Now get out there and finish it by doing yer lineart and colouring it in!

This is my second time drawing a tiger. It ain't that good, but I'm a lil' bit happy with the result. I like to study animals and their anatomy and history, so ye might find some tips there on ears, paws and eyes. Tigers are bigger and stronger than lions, however they ain't able to roar as loud as the lion. I'd say the difficulty would be intermediate - They are pretty hard to draw... however, not THAT hard. Enjoy!
