1

Draw a circle for her head, and then add her facial guidelines. Next draw out the entire shape of her body which is also her robe. Add the small shapes for her arms, and then her feet.

2

Sketch out the shape of Athena's face and then draw in her hair line that sort of frames her face. Next, sketch out the shape of her neck, and then draw the lining for her robe collar.

3

Finish sketching out her head, and long wavy hair. Next sketch in her statue formed eyes, nose, and mouth, and then add some detailing to the neck and collar. Draw the helmet that looks a lot like a warriors helmet.

4

Sketch out her arms, and then the shape and loose style of her robe. Along the sides of her body outline, draw lines that collapse on top of each other to form a layered look. Draw the crease and fold lines and then move to the next step.

5

Finish sketching out her arms, and then her hands. Once that is done sketch out the robe's length in more detail. Don't forget to add the fold or crease lines like you see here. You are definitely going for a loose looking robe. There is also the loo

6

Finish sketching out the robe, and then draw out her feet and or foot. Once that is done erase the lines and shapes that you drew in step one to clean up your drawing.

Here she is, goddess Athena wearing her mother's made helmet and all. Did you have fun or what. I remember having an awesome time sketching out this Greek god.

Description: A few days ago I went on a rampage and did a few lessons on Greek gods, and goddesses. Well out of all the commotion from the new site and such, I totally forgot to submit the other Greek mythology tutorial on “how to draw Athena", step by step. Athena is a very interesting goddess because of the way she came into existence. She is the daughter of Zeus and Metis, and it is said that she was Zeus's favorite out of all the children he had. The myth goes like this. She was born fully clothed, grown, and smart as an owl. Athena is the Greek goddess of wisdom, war, the arts, justice and skill. The reason why she was born into the world a full grown woman was because Zeus was afraid that Metis would wind up having a son much stronger, and wiser then himself. Well, to try and prevent this from happening, he swallowed his first wife Metis, and inside of Zeus she was knitting a robe and helmet for her daughter. As you can imagine such noise of hammering would drive anyone insane. For Zeus he was in extreme pain. So much pain in fact he used to cry out because of the migraine like headaches he used to have. In an attempt to heal his father, Zeus's son Hephaestus approached his dad and split his head open. From the cracked skull his daughter Athena rose. She was wearing the robe and helmet that her mother made for her. Poseidon and his niece Athena both shared a common interest in a particular city in Greece. Both Athena and Poseidon claimed the city, and wanted the it for themselves. In order to determine who gets to have the place, they came up with an idea. Who ever gives the best gift, wins the city. Poseidon gave the gift of a spring, and even though this was a wonderful gesture, the people could not use the water that leaked from the spring because it was salty. Athena on the other hand gave the city an olive tree. This gift was the one that won her the city because the olive tree supplied the people with food, oil, and wood. Athena named her newly won city, Athens. I hope you liked this interesting story of one of the finest Greek goddesses known to mankind. I also hope that you have fun learning "how to draw Athena", step by step. In the tutorial I added her helmet that her welded for her, and the robe. I will be back in a minute so stay tuned in okay people!
