1

Draw two shapes that look like pine nuts. there is no guidelines in the center or anything like that because the shoes are constructed in whole pieces.

2

You will now start construction the shape of the first shoe by squaring off the tip, and adding some detailing. Next, draw the beginning part of the ribbon, and move to the next step.

3

You will finish sketching out the rest of the one ballet shoe. Be sure to draw the rim that lays on the top of the foot, and then draw the heel, ribbon, and elastic. Once that is done you can sketch out some of the other shoe as well.

4

All you need to do here is sketch out the construction of the other pointe shoe, using the same techniques you used for the first one. The tip should look boxy, and the bottom or sole of the show should appear to be flat. Draw the rest of the ribbon,

That's it, you just learned how to draw ballet shoes, step by step. Now all you need to do is color them in. See how easy this lesson was. Now you can use this tutorial when you want to draw something pretty, or draw them next to a resting dancer. Gr

Description: A week ago I received a request asking if I can do a tutorial on a pair of ballet slippers. The type that I drew are not called ballet shoes. These types of shoes that most people draw or talk about are called “pointe shoes”. The slippers on the other hand are lightweight, and made to fit on feet in a very form fitting way. There is a variety of materials that is used to make these shoes such as soft leather, canvas, and satin. The soles are very thin to ensure flexibility, and they usually come in pink, gray, black, white, and tan. The tan ones are used when a dancer wants to give the appearance of being barefoot. Now that we know the difference between the two types of dancing shoes, let's talk about the pointe shoes. Because I am labeling this tutorial “how to draw ballet shoes”, I will give you a brief description on their actual design. Pointe shoes are worn by any ballet dancer that does pointework, but usually it is only females. These are the shoes that enable ballerinas to dance on their tippy toes for long periods of time. Ballet started in 1681 which was twenty years after King Louis XIV founded the “Royal Academy of Dance”. The sturdy looking shoe is boxy at the tip because there is an object called a “box” which is a hard enclosure that supports the foot. The flat part of the box is what dancers balance themselves on. There is also an item called a “shank” which is used to support the arch of the foot. The outer material is made of satin, and to keep the pointe shoes on the dancers feet, ribbons and elastic bands are used. The ribbons are tied around the ankle in a beautiful cross hatch pattern. As for the tutorial, I think you will find that learning "how to draw pointe shoes" is going to be a lot easier than you think. I have some more drawing fun coming up so stay tuned in to see what pops up next.
