Description: I know you guys can't possibly know when I update tutorials which is why I feel the need to tell you all that I just redrew a lesson on the Golden Retriever which was originally submitted by member “Animorpher” a while back. The reason why I took it upon myself to redraw the dog breed is because it has become increasingly popular over the past few months. So having said that, I guess you could say that the Retriever is the first lesson of the day. For the second tutorial I will be showing you “how to draw Precious Moments” characters that are sold and bought as ceramic figurines, plushy toys, gift cards, and other merchandise that has been in production since 1989. The characters where created by an illustrator named “Samuel J. Butcher, and he had a partner named Bill Biel. Together they sold greeting cards that where geared toward Christian's, and they usually tried to make sales during book fairs. If you are one of the early owners of an old card or figurine that was created in 1989, the company name should read; Jonathan & David. The two man team later partnered up with a company called “Enesco Corp”, and that is when gifts started being produced and sold. Sam's idea of drawing adorable children that had the “tear drop eye” faces and naming them “Precious Moments”, has taken off in a big way. The figures, drawings, and characters can be found in poses for almost all seasons including Easter, Christmas, and even Thanksgiving. In the beginning the artwork came in a collection called “Love One Another”, and these characters where the first porcelain production to be sold. I can remember having coloring books filled with different looking little boys and girls dressed as angles, painters, babies, and even figures with dogs and cats. If you look at the way they are designed and drawn, they sort of look like an American version of chibi characters. Nowadays the Precious Moments collection has over fifteen thousand pieces out in circulation with new themes being created every year. Disney now takes part in making the art even more spectacular, cunning, and beautiful for all collectors to cherish. It's not only going to be fun learning how to draw Precious Moments, it's even more exciting coloring them in. There is some really cute activity pages that you can have fun with coloring Precious Moments just by printing out some cool pages. I will be back with more drawing fun so stay tuned in to see what pops up next!
