How to Draw a Samurai Sword

Step 1.

First draw a guideline for the shape of the sword, then draw a circle for the handle.

Step 2.

Mark the edges as a reference for what you draw in the next step.

Step 3.

Start drawing the outline of the sword and try to make the line of the blade as smooth as possible to make it look nice and sharp.

Step 4.

Put more details on the blade and the handle to make it look three dimensional.

Step 5.

Finally, fill in more details like the patterns of the handle.

Step 6.

And there you have a nice samurai sword. Join me next time for more tutorials.

Hello again, and welcome to my tutorial. Today I will show you "how to draw a samurai sword, step by step" very easily. I’ve always thought the simplest things are often the hardest to draw and I’m sure a lot of you have had the same feeling. That is why I am going to overcome that by doing this particular tutorial. I am personally fascinated by the samurai code. In the old days, a defeated samurai would commit “hara-kiri” with the samurai sword rather than surrender. This practice continued through World War II, when Japanese soldiers would blow themselves up rather than be captured by their enemies. Even today I believe this spirit of dignity and pride runs deep in Japanese culture. I personally did not like the movie “The Last Samurai” because Tom Cruise’s character did not commit hara-kiri in the last part of the film when he was surrounded by his enemies. That’s an insult to the samurai spirit! Some samurai! But that’s just my opinion. So now it’s time to draw your very own samurai sword. Are you ready for another step by step? Here we go! And I am looking forward to see you guys in my next tutorial.
