Start this first step by drawing out some basic guidelines and shapes to make a workable frame for your dinosaur. Start with a small circle for the head and then draw another larger circle shape for the body. You will then draw more shapes for the to

2

All you have to do here is draw out the boxy looking head shape that you see here and then draw in the eye. Next draw the mouth lines and then start sketching out the horns on the side of it's face.

3

You will now slowly draw out each spiked horn on the back of the Ankylosaurus all the way to the tail. Next detail and define the head, face, and eyes.

4

Continue to draw out the spikes, horns, and plates on the back and sides of the dinosaur to fill in it's body of armor. When that is done you can add some detail to the front shoulder of the leg.

5

Start sketching out the front and back legs as you see here and make sure sketch in the feet and all the detailing and definition that goes along with it. The skin of this dinosaur was very thick and leather like so you have to convey that in your dr

Continue to draw the last back leg and then draw the belly and tail lines and shapes. Add some minor detailing and then start erasing all the guidelines and shapes that you drew in step one. You will now move to the next step.

When you are done drawing your spiked dinosaur your should end up with a drawing that looks like this. Color it in and you have completed this tutorial on "how to draw a Ankylosaurus step by step".

Description: I haven’t drawn any dinosaur characters lately other than that cartoon T-Rex, but that really doesn’t count because it wasn’t supposed to be like a real lesson on the real thing. I was looking through the dinosaur category and saw that I didn’t do a tutorial on an ankylosaurus yet. So that is what this next submission will be on, “how to draw a ankylosaurus” step by step. The ankylosaurus is one of the more popular specie of dinosaur because of it’s massive armored body and tail. They were in existence during the late cretaceous period which was around seventy to sixty five million years ago. Their name actually means “fused lizard” and it was given it’s name back in 1908 by a one of the United States greatest dinosaur fossil hunters, Barnum Brown. Fossils of this creature and or animal was found in places like Montana, Alberta Canada, Sucre, Bolivia, and other places in North and South America. The ankylosaurus measured in at nearly forty feet long and just about four feet high. Being such a massive animal, you wonder how much the dinosaur weighed right? Well according to paleontologist, the ankylosaurus weighed anywhere between three to four tons, now that is a lot of dinosaur. You would think that such a short animal would prey on the meat of dead animals, or feed on smaller dinosaurs right? The fact is, these dinos were herbivores. That means they ate nothing but greens like leaves from low lying trees, grass, and moss that was found on the barks of trees and such. To protect themselves from carnivores, their whole top side of the body was like a thick armored military tank that had oval plates that were attached to their leather like hides. They also had large horns in back of the neck for added protection, and their famous club like tail was also a nice addition to the ankylosaurus genetic make up. This dinosaur was almost covered with head to toe armor, I mean even it’s eyes had plates to protect them as well. The only vulnerable side to the ankylosaurus was their bellies. That was how they were most likely killed when they were in battle and tipped over from a blow by another dinosaur. Anyways, can you imagine the amount of food that the ankylosaurus had to eat? They consumed so much green food that their bellies must have been very large. It is thought to be believed that these animals probably let loose some serious gas because of a fermentation compartment that they were equipped with. I loved sketching out this dinosaur because he reminds me of one of the toys I used to play with when I was young. I know you guys will like learning “how to draw an ankylosaurus step by step”. I will be back in a moment with more lessons on the way. Peace out peeps and have fun drawing!
