Hillbilly Caricature Drawing Lesson

Step 1.

We will start by drawing the guides for your hillbilly caricature and that includes the head and torso guides. Once that is done go ahead and sketch in the facial guidelines, and neck guideline.

Step 2.

We will now sketch out the shape of the face structure. This should start on the left and you should proceed to work on the face by sketching out the chin, bone structure and then some of the forehead. This hillbilly boy has facial hair so go ahead and sketch that in as well. Draw the eyebrows which are also very bushy and then the cheek indent to define the face.

Step 3.

Finish sketching out the facial hair by filling in the chin. When that is done you can draw the mouth, lips, cigarette and then the nose and very expressive eyes. Add a wrinkle or crinkle to the forehead as well.

Step 4.

The face is basically done. You will work on the head next which is covered by an old, worm out ball cap. Once you draw in the lid, you can sketch out the ear shape and add detailing inside the ear. Draw the back of the neck line and then sketch in the facial fuzz along the cheek.

Step 5.

Draw the entire shape of the neck and notice that there is a protruding adams apple. This hillbilly boy has a long skinny neck. Once that is done, add some hair on the back of the neck and then draw in his torso which consists of the shoulders, arms and chest.

Step 6.

We have reached the final step folks. Add detailing to the jacket by drawing stripes down the shoulders and arms, then draw the collar for the tee under his jacket. Finish up with some definition to his clothing and then you're done.

Step 7.

Here is the line art folks. Go ahead and enjoy coloring in this sketch of a hillbilly boy drawn in caricature style.

Okay, so now that I have uploaded my concept idea on a Dark Girl, how about we do something that I don't do a lot of and that is drawing a guy in the form of a hillbilly. I say hillbilly because where I live there are lots of people that work and live on the farm, ranches and even just plain old boonies. This lesson is based on a dude that I actually know. To me he is a nice kid, very laid back and thinks that a productive relax day is spending it in the woods with a rifle. Here is my take on drawing a country boy, step by step or in other words, a hillbilly. Instead of doing a realistic take on a country dude, I thought I would make it fun and create a lesson that was drawn in a caricature style. Anyways, go ahead and have fun. I will return with much more lessons so be sure to stick around. Adios mi amigos.
