Draw Doves Step by Step with Tips

Step 1.

We will begin by drawing the guides and shapes for your doves like you see here. This just consists of heads and body guides.

Step 2.

Start with the first dove first. Draw in the head, long neck and chest or breast. Once that is done you can draw the beak.

Step 3.

Add detailing to the beak and then draw and color in the eyeball. You will then draw the torn muscle being ripped apart from the other dove. Draw in the skin tissue and then proceed to step four.

Step 4.

We will now draw in the dead dove's head, face and neck. Along with the muscles inside the chest.

Step 5.

You will now draw in the expanded wings for your dead dove. When that is finished you can add the layers of feathers to fill in the wings.

Step 6.

Here are some quick tip steps. I made these so you can understand the bird anatomy when it comes to their wings. This is important to understand and know because when drawing bird wings you want to make sure that you draw them anatomically correct.

Step 7.

We will now finish up the doves. Tod o this draw the remaining body for the dove eating the other. Draw in the legs and feet for both doves and add detailing to the wings, tail and feathers.

Step 8.

Draw the border around the birds which is decrepit tree limbs. They are supposed to look petrified and deathly. Erase the mistakes and guides when done.

Step 9.

That's it, color in those doves and you are done and ready to tackle your next lesson.

When it comes to drawing birds there is always that traditional concept you can go with or you can choose to go with something outside the box. Today I will be showing you how to draw doves, but with a twist. These doves have a significant meaning, and when I was drawing them all I could think about was betrayal and sorrow. When we look at doves they are a symbol or peace, trust and unity. You never rarely see doves in conflict or in an anguish state. Since we only view doves as peace loving birds, I wanted to make a drawing showing a dove betraying the other. When doves betray there is only one outcome and that is death. But, there is also rebirth. Anyways, have fun with this odd but interesting lesson on drawing doves. I will be back soon with other tuts so don't go anywhere.
