griffons and dragons drawing lesson

Griffons and Dragons Drawing Lesson

Step 1.

Let's get started. We will first drawing the guide shapes for the dragon and griffon like you see here. Once that is done you can draw in the guidelines for the wings and tails.

Step 2.

We will tackle the griffon head and face fist. Start with the beak and then draw the top part of the head followed by the eye.

Step 3.

Finish the head and then sketch in the first front arm and then draw the leg and talons.

Step 4.

Up next, we will begin drawing the massive feathery wings or wing. Add the layered feathers under the larger feathers and then draw the belly of the griffon.

Step 5.

You will now draw the rest of the griffon's body and when that is done draw in the detailing all over the body which are the feathers. Notice the tail is unlike a bird, and more like a lion.

Step 6.

The griffon is done. You can now draw the dragon head and when you do this add definition and detail to the skin and face. Add the sharp teeth and then draw in the eyes and frill horns that crown the back part of the head.

Step 7.

Add more teeth inside the dragon's mouth and then draw in the reptilian style tongue.

Step 8.

For the final step you will draw more dragons and griffons in the background as well as the large tip of the dragon wing in the upper right corner. Erase the mistakes and guides then you're done.

Step 9.

That's it, it's time to color in your dragons and griffons that you made in this lesson. I hope you enjoyed the tut folks.

Today I have a really exciting lesson that I'm sure all you fantasy buffs will scream over. Today I will finally be uploading a drawing turned into a lesson on a griffon and dragon war. As you can see the griffon has a mount attached, I don't know if you can see it in this drawing, but it's there. Anyways, the dragons are scattered throughout the sky as they are trying to take down the griffons. I really love how this concept came out, it's one of my masterpieces I think so I hope everyone enjoys the lesson. Adios folks and have fun drawing this griffon and dragon war.
