Drawing an Archangel

Okay folks, we will begin the lesson by drawing the guidelines and shapes for this archangel. Start with a head shape and then draw the body guidelines.

Up next, use the head guide to sketch out the actual shape of the face. This is a very important part of the drawing because the face shape is supposed to be almost perfect. Draw in the eyes, nose and mouth, then draw in some of the hair which are th

Up next, continue working on the hairstyle. This will also form the shape of her head. I chose to go with a long straight simple style because angels are simple. Draw the shape of her neck and proceed to step four.

We will draw in the shoulders, arms and her torso. Sketch in the detailing to the collar bone area and then when you feel good about the work done on this step, you are ready for step five.

We will now draw out the outer shape of her body. This should be an elegant shaped body with the navel indent and other definition.

Add the line to separate the legs and as you can see the left thigh is crossed over on the right leg.

Here you will draw in the hands. As you can see they are crowned upward.

We will now draw in the wings. They are in a relaxed pose right now, but you can draw them expanded. Add layers of feathers to create a full set of wings as well.

Lastly, add blood from the wrists as this archangel is in pain from feeling the wounds of Jesus Christ. Erase the mistakes and guides when you are done.

Here is the line art when you are all done. Now you can go ahead and color in this archangel.

Description: To my surprise I have never done a lesson on just a straight up Archangel so here is one of my favorite drawings that I will upload today on how to draw an archangel, step by step. This is going to be a challenge to create if you are a novice artist and that's only because of the body pose, wings and the actual limbs. I had so much fun with creating this lesson and the coloring was even more fun. Anyways, go ahead and tackle the task of drawing an archangel and I will ready my next submission. Adios folks.
