drawing a comic book angel

Drawing a Comic Book Angel

Step 1.

We will start with the body guides and shapes like you see here. This consists of the head, torso and lower body guide shapes.

Step 2.

Using the head guide sketch in the facial structure which should be very feminine. Next, draw in her hair line that crowns the forehead. It's a long straight style, but for now add some strand lines to create texture.

Step 3.

Using the facial guidelines draw in the high arched eyebrows followed by her seductive, expressive eyes. Once that is done draw in her nose and lips. Add detailing to the face and then you are done here.

Step 4.

We will almost complete the hairstyle for this beautiful comic book angel. Her hair is resting on her forearms because she is lifting up her hair from under. I did this pose to make her look sexy and sultry. Add the definition to her arms and then then proceed to step five.

Step 5.

Up next we will draw in more of her body starting with the chest. Once those are sketched out and defined, draw in the torso, stomach, hips and waist. Define the ares around the edges of the stomach and on her inner thighs.

Step 6.

For the last drawing step you can draw in the glorious wings as they are spread out and half open. Take your time drawing the feathers and when you are confident that your comic book angel has the wings of an angel, you can start erasing the mistakes and guidelines.

Step 7.

That's it, you are all done. Now you can have fun coloring in your comic book angel drawing. Please don't forget to upload your drawings of this, and other art you draw to Dragoart's artwork gallery.

In this lesson I wanted to challange myself and make a comic book version of a female angle. Of course this angel was going to be colored in with black wings and a black suit. The body structure, pose and form are all traditional characteristics to a female comic book character that you would find in Marvel Comics, Dc Comics and even Dark Horse Comic books. Come to think of it, I don't have a lot of Dark Horse Comic book drawing lessons so maybe it's time I should work on a couple. The seductive Comic angel you see here is going to be simple enough to draw for intermediate artists, and should be a challenge for those of you who just started drawing or have been drawing for a while, but have to work on bodies. Anyways, have fun and don't forget to let me know if you like the lesson. I will be back so stick around if you want to see more.
