drawing a working girl, mechanic girl

Drawing a Working Girl, Mechanic Girl

Step 1.

Start off by drawing the head guide and then the body guidelines which should be drawn in the actual pose of motion.

Step 2.

Starting with the face first. Begin to sketch out or draw the profile of her face. This should include the nose, lips, chin and jaw line. The eye, mouth and markings on her face should be added once the profile lining is drawn in. When that is done you can go ahead and add the bandanna.

Step 3.

We will now fill in the top and sides of the opening with her head shape and hairstyle. Add the layers of hair and since she is a mechanic, I decided to give her medium length to short locks. Draw in the back part of the bandanna as well as the detailing to the cloth.

Step 4.

The head, hair and face is now complete. We will now start tackling the body starting with the shape of her neck. Once that is done draw the shoulders, and then her sleeveless tee. The bottom of her tee is torn or worn because it is a work shirt. Add the definition to her back and add the crease line from her breast.

Step 5.

Up next, draw in the rest of her body. For this female mechanic, she has a small waist and wide hips. Draw in her shorts which also should include the belt. Add the back pockets and then draw in the torn ruffle at the ends of her shorts. When the bottom half of her body is drawn in you can draw the arms. Don't forget that small heart tattoo on her shoulder.

Step 6.

Draw in the gloved hand next which is in a gripping pose. Almost all mechanics wear gloves so she is no different.

Step 7.

Lastly, draw in your tool of choice. For me a wrench is what I wanted her to be gripping on to. Define your tool and then erase the mistakes and all the guides you made along the way.

Step 8.

When all is said and done, your working girl should look like the drawing you see here. Add some color before you upload your artwork to Dragoart or leave as line art.

Everyone knows that times are different now which and when I say that I mean, woman nowadays have careers that men are known to have. Today, there are female plumbers, carpenters, electricians, painters, and yes even mechanics. Based on this concept, I thought it would be fun to make a lesson on drawing a working girl, but not just any working girl, a female mechanic. To me mechanics are skilled technicians because they literally know the ins and outs to anything with an engine. Of course there are all types of mechanics, but the one you will be drawing today is a car/truck or vehicle mechanic. I love the way the drawing came out as well as the coloring concept. The arm, hand and even breasts all came out awesome. Drawing girls have gotten so fun over the years so whenever I do another girl drawing, I like to do something different. I hope you like this lesson on how to draw a working girl, I will be back with other cool tuts in a bit.
