geisha drawing lesson

Geisha Drawing Lesson

Step 1.

We will draw the frame for the body starting with the head shape and then draw the guidelines for the body pose.

Step 2.

Here you will draw in the structure of the geisha's face like so and then draw in the outline of her ear and hair.

Step 3.

Let's draw in the face starting with the eyebrows, and eyes. Then draw the nose and lips or mouth.

Step 4.

Her face is drawn in. So what we need to do now is draw the hairstyle which is combed back in a pulled back do. Draw the long neck and proceed to step five.

Step 5.

Now we can work on the shoulders and when that is done you can draw the chest or torso. The kimono is form fitting which will add some sex appeal to this geisha. Add the seam line for the front of the kimono and you can move to step six.

Step 6.

We will now draw in the hips along with the rest of the kimono. Add wrinkles and creases to the center of her kimono and then draw in the leg which is the thigh and ankle.

Step 7.

We will now add the sleeves which hang low. Add the trim around the end of the sleeves and you can proceed to step eight.

Step 8.

For the last step all you have to do is draw in the rest of the body which is the left arm and hand, right hand, feet and shoes. Don't forget to draw in her fan. Erase the mistakes and guides then add some remaining detailing.

Step 9.

This is the line art. Now you can color her in and even make a really nice background for her.

Okay, I'm almost done with submitting the lessons I had sitting in my folder for a few days so once this batch goes up I will be uploading more lessons for tomorrow. Today we will be drawing a Geisha, step by step but this geisha is different. With this tutorial the geisha is showing off some leg as part of her performance routine. I know back in the day geisha where always covered and never showed more skin than necessary. This was a driving factor for men who where interested in retaining their services. I wanted to take a step forward and give this geisha a sexy appearance. I think I accomplished my goal, but looking at it now I know I would have changed some things like the size of the fan and the structure of her nose. Nonetheless it's still going to be fun with this geisha drawing lesson. Enjoy and don't stray away too far because I still have more coming your way.
