Easy Wizard Drawing Lesson

Step 1.

Start with the guides for the head and body like you see here.

Step 2.

You will begin sketching out the wizard's face first on an angle. When you do this you need to make sure he looks old. So add the forehead wrinkles, nose and cheeks. Notice how the cheeks are puffy, this is because of age. Sketch in the mustache and long wizard beard.

Step 3.

Draw the hood line for the wizard's hat and then sketch in the long aging hairstyle. Add the detailing in the hair and then move to step four.

Step 4.

Finish the wizard's hat and then sketch in the detailing to the top and sides.

Step 5.

Now that the head and face is done, we can tackle the body. Sketch out the shoulders first and then draw cloak. Add all the texture detailing to the clothing and you can proceed to step six.

Step 6.

Continue to work on the clothing and draw in the belt that is around the wizard's waist. This is where he attaches his pouches. Add the wrinkling and move to step seven.

Step 7.

Lastly, draw in the arms and hands, then draw the staff, detail the staff and draw the mystical ball and smoke. Erase your mistakes and add the final touches.

Step 8.

Here is the line art. Now you can color in your wizard and show folks that you can still draw a classic looking wizard.

Here is a lesson that I know many folks will enjoy and appreciate. It's something that i wanted to draw for a very long time in this manner but never really got around to it or had the energy to put into the concept I was looking for. I did a lesson on a wizard a long time ago, but it came out like crap so here is my redo on an easy wizard drawing that looks like your typical magician or wizard. As you can see he has the staff and mystical glass with the wispy smoke coming from the palm of his hand. There are so many different ways to draw wizards, but this is what I wanted. A traditional looking wizard with the purplish colored cloak and clothing. I do hope you like this lesson, it's not even going to be that complicated to recreate.
