How to Draw a Belly Dancer

Step 1.

Begin by drawing the head, torso and body guide shapes like so. Sketch in the limb guidelines and then the facial guidelines.

Step 2.

You will now draw in the shape of the belly dancer's face, and then draw the hood and then her hair.

Step 3.

Add the detailing trim to the rim of the hood, then sketch in her pretty face. Draw the eyes, nose and mouth, then you can proceed to step four.

Step 4.

Add more hair as it's blown in the breeze, then sketch in the shape of her neck shoulders, and her sleeveless shirt. Notice I drew in some of her chest. Add detailing to the shirt or blouse, then you are done here.

Step 5.

Sketch out the shape of her body and then draw the belt, buckle, and then her loose fitting skirt. Add detailing to her belly and you are ready for step six.

Step 6.

Okay guys, sketch out the long flowing ribbon, then sketch out her long leg and bare foot.

Step 7.

Now we will draw in the belly dancer's arms as they are raised high to the sky. We will then draw some crinkled looking tassel in her hand.

Step 8.

Finish everything off by drawing the ribbon that she is using as a prop for her belly dancing routine. Add detailing where needed, then erase the mistakes and guidelines.

Step 9.

Here is my finished drawing or sketch of the Belly Dancer. You can choose to add color to your drawing, or you can leave her looking like a sketched in image.

Hey guys, Dawn here with another funtabulous lesson and this time we will be learning "how to draw a belly dancer", step by step. This was a sketch that I worked on yesterday in hopes that it would turn out okay. By my surprise the drawing ended up coming out really nice. I was thinking long and hard to whether I wanted to color in the drawing, but after careful thought I decided to leave it as a digital sketched image. I love the art of belly dancing and I think the way that women learn how to move their hips in such a defined manner is amazing. Anyways, have fun with drawing a belly dancer folks. This is a figure that I have always wanted to create but never had the artistic energy to tackle.
