How to Draw Severus Snape Easy

Step 1.

Are you ready to tackle this lesson on drawing Severus easy? Good, start by making the head/face guide like so, then sketch in the facial guidelines.

Step 2.

Using the guide you just made begin sketching out the actual shape of Snape's head which also happens to be his hairstyle. That long, thin grungy/goth parted hairstyle.

Step 3.

Now that the hair and head is all drawn out, you can begin sketching out the face. Start with the eyebrows, then draw in the top lid lines of his eyes. Sketch in Snape's nose in a very simple manner, then draw the lip line.

Step 4.

Finish drawing the eyes and then the eyebrows. When all of that is done, you can begin sketching in the aging definition to his face. This should include the puffy bags under the eyes, the long frown lines that start from the sides of the nostrils and onto the sides of the mouth. Draw the top lip, bottom lip and chin arch.

Step 5.

All you will do here is detail his part to his hair. Add a strand chunk, then some soft root pieces from the scalp.

Step 6.

Finish Snape off by sketching out the rest of the face shape like so, then draw the shoulders and seam line that comes from the coat. Erase all your mistakes and guides then you're done.

Step 7.

Here is the man behind the face, Severus Snape. Now you can choose to color him in or leave Snape as a sketched drawing.

Many people have asked me to create a wicked easy tutorial that will show them 'how to draw Snape easy, step by step'. I've never done a Snape tutorial except the chibi version which is rather easy. This lesson is pretty simple and is a great way to exercise your portrait drawing skills. I painted my version of Severus, with Paint Tool Sai, an awesome digital drawing/painting program which I totally recommend for everyone. The program is sold here for roughly $50. Anyways, I hope you guys will enjoy this drawing tutorial of the day. I had a lot of fun painting his face and sometime down the road, I will give you a full detailed lesson on how I paint using Sai. You can find my super detailed 'how to paint' videos here on the DragoArt Youtube. Thanks so much for viewing and don't forget to leave feedback. I read all of your comments, emails, and tutorial suggestions and try to get them as best as I can. Peace and hove fun, loves!
