1

Draw two circles one for the head and one for the body. Attach a line from the head shape to the torso and then draw out and color in the dot for an eye. You will also draw a long line for the slender beak of the kiwi bird and then draw out the guide

2

In this step you will sketch out the bristle like feathers around the head as seen here and then draw out the thickness of the beak and add the separation line to show top and bottom halves. Sketch in more feathers around the top of the bill as seen

3

Now because the Kiwi has small useless wings you hardly see them. All you have to do here is sketch out the bristled feather tips all around the body of the bird. make sure that you sketch out the thighs of the kiwi as well.

4

This is your fourth step and as you can see you are almost done. All you have to do now is sketch out and draw the shape of the legs and three toed feet. Draw out the claws on the toes and then you can start erasing all the guidelines and shapes that

5

You will now sketch in all the feather lining that is basically scratch lines made with your pencil. Shade in the legs and feet to add detail and definition. Repeat the same shading technique to the beak.

6

This is what your sketch should look like when you are done. All you have to do is color in the odd bird if you like or keep it as a sketch. This will end the tutorial on how to draw a kiwi bird step by step.

Description: I am going to submit a tutorial on a very cute bird that happens to be on the endangered species list. Some of you may have not heard of or seen this bird before today. I am going to teach all you bird lovers out there "how to draw a Kiwi", step by step. I know what you must be thinking “a kiwi bird, isn't that the name of a fruit?” And to answer your question, yes the word kiwi is the name of a fruit but I will not be showing you how to draw a fruit today. The kiwi bird comes from New Zealand and it is in fact a flightless bird. They live in the beautiful forests of New Zealand as well as the grasslands and scrubs. Kiwis happen to be the national bird of New Zealand and there is still a few handful of people that has never seen this bird yet in the wild. These brownish colored birds have long slender skinny beaks that have nostril holes at the end of its bill. Kiwis also have an extraordinary sense of smell and they use these senses to track down their food which consist of worms, insects and grubs. Now, they may not look like they can do much at all, but the fact is these small birds can out run a human any day of the week. The kiwi bird has coarse prickly looking hair like feathers and they are the size of a common fowl or chicken. These birds look nothing like birds at all. I mean look at them, they have no tails, bristly hair like feathers, two stubby wings that can't even flop, and long sleek beaks. Their feet are small and have only three toes with sharp claws. There are three different kinds of kiwi bird. There is the brown kiwi, the small spotted kiwi and the great spotted kiwi. They use their sharp feet to attack enemies and food. Female kiwi birds are usually bigger than the males and they can weigh anywhere between four and ten pounds. I guess I wanted to do this sketch of the kiwi because it is such an odd looking bird. Nevertheless it is still cute and it deserves to be drawn out and made into a tutorial lesson. I will now show you "how to draw a kiwi", step by step. I hope all you artist out there have fun with this tutorial, it is really simple to learn from and follow. I will be back tomorrow gang, so talk to you then and I will be drawing live at or around six pm. Ta, ta!
