How to Draw Tribal Bob Marley

Step 1.

Make the guide for his head, then sketch in the facial guidelines.

Step 2.

We will draw the chunks of hair known as dreadlocks to start the tribal drawing process. There is a total of three sections; one that rests on the right side of the head, another small pieces to the left side, and the long strand that forks off at the end. His hair should have that parted look.

Step 3.

Next up, draw two more big chunks to the right part of Marley's head, then draw in the beard. Notice how the pieces of hair never touch the face, they just form the structure of his face with the void or space.

Step 4.

In this step you will draw out the rest of tribal Bob Marley's hair. The chunks should flow into one another nicely.

Step 5.

Next, draw the eyebrows which are thick and short. Then draw the beginnings for his mouth.

Step 6.

This is your last step folks. You will draw the eyes in a closed manner. Then color in the nose, frown lines around the mouth and add detailing to his cheeks and inside the mouth. If you made mistakes you need to erase them now, and also erase the guidelines.

Step 7.

This is the end step or line art. As you can see he is all black and white, but you can do a tie-dye color affect if you want.

I never really listened to too much reggae music, but I really do like Marley's stuff. This tribal design on Bob Marley should be easy enough for anyone to tackle so go ahead and have a go at it. I will be back in a bit so keep tuned in to see what comes up next.
