Start with some guidelines as you see here to make a frame for your Japanese wrestler. First draw a circle for the head and then add the facial guidelines. You will then draw the arm lines as well as the torso line. Add the hip and leg lines as well.

Now you will start sketching out the actual shape and outline of his body starting with the arms. Next, draw out the shape of his chubby face and then the lines for his eyes. Add the slanted dashes for his chest and then draw the outline of his mawas

You can start sketching out the detailing and features of his face which in this case looks very mean. Add more shape to the arms and then draw out the hands fingers and all. Start drawing the legs and then some of the feet.

Description: Wrestlers are probably one of the most interesting sports to watch on TV or in a live arena. I myself don’t like it to much but for a lot of the males in my family it is a common show watched in the parlor of our house. The idea for this next tutorial actually came from my father when he was watching a movie called Memories of a Geisha. Now he likes wrestling, and because of that he wanted me to do a tutorial on how to draw a Sumo wrestler step by step. Sumo wrestling is a sport that takes place in the country of Japan. Now the whole purpose of each wrestler is quite similar to the wrestling we are familiar with in middle schools and high schools. It consists of two opponents that try and force one and other out of the circular ring that they compete in. If a wrestler touches any part of the ground outside of the circle it is considered a point. The sport of Sumo wrestling was obviously originated in Japan and is only professionally practiced there to this day. The Japanese consider this contact sport a modern martial art taking it back to centuries when the sport was first introduced. Any individual that is training to be a Sumo wrestler must live by the rules and regulations set by the Sumo Association as well as live in training stables called “heya” or in other words, sumo training stables. A Sumo is required to grow their hair into a style that resembles that of a samurai called a topknot or a “chonmage”. Some Sumo’s are able to wear a yukata which is a cotton robe and a pair of sandals called getas when they are in public. The average height of a Sumo wrestler is around 5’10 to 6 feet tall and they are required to be a bit hefty in size as you can imagine. Nowadays, Sumo is becoming leaner because of the health problems they encounter over the years. This tutorial was super easy and I know that you too will have fun learning how to draw a Sumo wrestler step by step.
