1

You will start off by drawing the Union Jack. To do so, grab a ruler so your lines come out straight. Draw a plus or cross symbol on your canvas to the left side of the paper.

2

Continue to draw the thick, striped lines that flow through the flag or symbol like so. Take your time, use a ruler and you will be fine.

3

You will now draw in the thin stripes on the inside of the thicker shapes. There is one on each stripe on the inside of the flag design like so.

4

For the last drawing step you will draw five small bursting stars on the right side and then color them all in. When that is done you can draw the seven pointed star that sits under the flag. If you made mistakes, erase them now.

5

Here is what the finished drawing looks like when you are all done. Now you can go ahead and color in the drawing you have just completed.

Description: Okay, this lesson goes out to all you Aussies out there that love who has been waiting for a lesson on "how to draw the Australian flag" or otherwise known as the Commonwealth Blue Ensign. This flag has a lot going on because within it's design it has the British Union Jack flag off to the corner, five bursting stars on the other side, and one larger star burst just under the Union Jack. The rich blue background has three different designs on it as I mentioned and all of them represent something all on their own. The Union Jack to the right corner of the flag represents the tie between Australia and Great Britain. Next, the five stars off to the right side of the flag is actually constellation stars known as the Southern Cross which is part of the Southern Hemisphere. And finally the large star under the Union Jack which has seven points is called the 'Star of Federation' and that star represents the original states of Australia. It's a very cool flag design and there is a lot of meaning behind the flag's design. I had fun drawing the Commonwealth Blue Ensign, and if you are from Australia you will too. Enjoy people and stick around for more drawing fun.
