How to Draw Kick-Ass, Dave Lizewski, Aaron Johnson

1

Draw the cut-off oval lightly with a No.2 or HB pencil. Make sure you draw it as seen in the picture.

2

Now draw in the bisecting line to balance his facial features.

3

Sketch lightly red line for shoulder placement.

4

You can draw in the lines a. for eyebrows, b. for eyes, c. for nose, and d. for mouth.

5

Now draw Dave's mask, eyebrows, eyes, and mask frame.

6

Observe where Dave's features appear in relation to the guidelines. Draw in his nose area of the mask and mouth.

7

Now draw in the mask design.

8

Now draw in the profile of his jawline, chin, and head.

9

Last but not least, draw in his neck and shoulders, along with the costume folds. If you haven't already, you can now erase your guidelines. The lines you couldn't erase, go ahead and blend them in if you will be shading your drawing.

10

I made this line drawing especially for you if you don't want to do the pencil shading and blending part. Otherwise, let us continue to the pencil drawing part.

Here is the outline done with a 0.7mm mechanical pencil. Look closely and see if your lines look something like this. You can erase if certain areas like the eyes or nose don't line up. Take you kneaded eraser and dab off the shadow outlines or dark

I didn't want to skip this. The first picture shows how to hold your pencil for Overhand (great for writing & details) and Underhand (great for shading large areas in wide strokes). You can practice tone shading and take it a step further with the To

Here is how the tools look. I used the 0.7mm 2B mechanical pencil, 9B pencil, tissue, and the blending stump.

This picture focuses on Dave's eyes. For help I put this portion on how knowledge about the eye is important. To draw it realistically, you need to know its form, how the shadow falls, and where the light hits. A) Shows the eye is cased in a socket..

EYELASH STROKES! Yep, Dave seems to brandish those lashes like a weapon, so here's a little tip to help draw those lovely lashes. Yes, those pesky little things that look like spider legs are drawn a certain way and they taper (you can add thickness

This is the first start. This is where you would sketch in small circles or lines to shade the areas. It would take hours upon hours to cover all that area with a pencil. I chose to shade with pastels. In a few strokes I've got area coverage. Applied

What's interesting is I haven't used a pencil yet during this stage. I took a tortillon blending tool (since it won't leave lines and will cover a larger area) and shaded laying the stump tapered part flat (like a pencil) on his skin. Then I took it'

You can tell a huge difference with the details on his eyebrows and eyes. I sketched in darker with my 0.7mm mechanical and 9B pencil his eyes, mouth, and mask shadows. I actually added more eyebrow strokes and enhanced his eyelashes. I placed my 9B

Drawing like this is a gradual buildup. I keep sketching, blending and sketching some more. This time, I first blended the pencil sketches with my toritllon to give a smooth transition. I added more dark tones and details to the folds in his costume'

I smoothed his nose, mask, skin, and costume a little more in my SAI program by blurring it. I added darker details on his mask and between the material folds and at the bottom for a dramatic effect. I added white detail to his facial mask outline a

Description: This tutorial features Dave Lizewski (Kick Ass) played by the British actor Aaron Johnson from the movie Kick Ass. It is about a teenager who yearns to be a superhero after a car accident left with repaired nerves resulting with a high endurance for pain and enhanced durability, and a little girl who is the star of her own splatter-happy head trip. If it's Quentin Taranteno satire stylistic blood and guts! I hope you enjoy this tutorial. Please fav, show your love, and comment. Thank you all. Peace and love to you.
