How To Draw Nas, Nas
Step 1. To draw Nas, we should first sketch in some basic construction lines. Use a 2H or hard pencil so that the lines are easy to erase when we ink later on. Sketch the basic shape of the head, neck, and upper shoulders. The head should be tilted slightly. These lines don't have to be perfect since they are just guides, but be sure to draw the crisscross construction lines of the face.
Step 2. Let's draw his eyes first. Be sure that they align evenly along the horizontal construction line of the face. The left eye can be partially closed since we'll be drawing him with a "thug" look. Be sure to draw the curved creases of the eyelids over each eye as well as some creases beneath the eyes. Make sure that the iris and pupils are looking directly at us and leave a small white dot on each pupil.
Step 3. The eyebrows should be pointing down in the middle. Notice how the insides of the eyebrows are thinner than at their peaks. Draw a very faint crease between the eyebrows above the nose.
Step 4. Draw his nose in the center of the face, right in line with the horizontal construction line. The bottom of the nose should end half way between the eyes and chin. He has a rounded nose with wide nostrils. Draw the left nostril flared more than the right, with curved creases emerging from the corners of both nostrils. Nas has a very visible mole on his left cheek near his nose, so draw that while you're at it.
Step 5. For his mouth, draw the lips slightly parted on either side as if he's snarling. It's his "thug" look. One side of his upper lip should be raised higher than the other. The middle of the upper lip should just barely be touching the bottom lip. Be sure to draw the bottom lip much larger than the top lip. Draw an indent above the upper lip, as well as another small mole lower down on the left side of his face, directly in line with the first mole.
Step 6. Now draw the outer contours of his face. He has a slender face and a very square chin.
Step 7. At this angle, most of the right ear will be hidden, but we should still be able to see a small sliver of it. Draw the left ear more clearly. The ears should rest slightly high on the head, with the tips of the ears resting above the level of the eyebrows. The bottoms of the ears should alight with the middle of the nose.
Step 8. Draw the top of his head and his hair. He has thick hair, but it's very short. We only need to draw his hairline since we'll black out the hair later after we ink. Leave a shaved horizontal line on the left side of his hair.
Step 9. Nas usually has facial hair. A thin mustache and small goatee beneath his chin will work nicely. The mustache should tapper thinner on the outer edges. The goatee should have a thin strip of hair that meets the chin crease below the lower lip.
Step 10. At this angle, his neck will be almost completely covered up by his head and his hoodie sweatshirt. Draw the hood of the sweatshirt wrapped around the back of his head, reaching as far up as his ears. Draw a few curved horizontal creases in the fabric. Also draw the strings of the hoodie beneath his chin. You don't have to put too much detail into the hoodie since it will be filled in with black later on.
Step 11. You can give him some bling by drawing a couple of large necklaces hanging from his neck. One necklace can resemble a chain, while the other can be made of a series of smooth cube shapes. Take your time to draw each individual link and make sure that the necklaces curve inwards.
Step 12. Now that we are done penciling the image, we can ink it using Micron markers or a brush and India ink. Carefully go over each line with patience and be sure not to accidentally ink any unneeded guide lines. Microns work very well for the jewelry. When the ink is dry, erase your pencil marks with a kneaded eraser.
Step 13. You can add more depth to the image by giving it shadow. Establish your light source and use black ink or a fat tipped black marker to shade the opposite side of the figure. In this case, the light is coming from in front of his face, so the area that will have the heaviest shadow will only be beneath the nose. Also black out his hair and his hoodie.
Step 14. If you need to make any corrections, use white ink or opaque white paint. You can also use it to add highlights if needed. In this case I gave him a few highlights at bottom of his beard to help it stand out against the shirt. And that's how you draw Nas! Nice!
