How to Draw Nod, Epic, The Leaf Men

Like always begin with a circle for the head, then sketch in the facial guidelines.

Sketch out the structure of Nod's face and make sure that the jaw is nice and squared off. You will then draw the parted hairline as well as the ear.

Using the face guide that you drew in step one, draw out the eyes then draw the nose, nostrils and mouth. Add detailing inside the ear too.

Sketch out the eyebrows, and then draw in the eyeballs. You will also need to color in the pupils as well as draw the lining for the left side of the face. Make the bottom lip and clef above his lip.

Next, sketch out his hairstyle which should be straight, sort of long and even a bit wavy.

Add detailing to his hairstyle, then sketch out his neck, shoulders, then the lining for his shirt. Erase your mistakes if you made any, then you are all done.

This is Nod when you are done with the drawing. Now you can color him in.

Description: I don't know if you guys are familiar with a book written by William Joyce called The Leaf Man. In 2013 there will be a movie released based on the book called 'Epic'. Unlike a lot of movies that are based on children's books, William Joyce is going to be the writer, producer, and production designer for the film. I'm not too sure what The Leaf Man is about because I never read it before. I do know what the movie will be about in some detail because I searched everywhere to find out. The film will follow a teenage girl as she wonders through a deep forest while there is a battle going on between good and evil. She finds herself there because she was transported by what I don't know. She eventually teams up with some individuals where she will try to save the world of her new found friends, as well as her own. The character that you will be drawing is called Nod which is going to be voiced by Josh Hutcherson. This lesson will show you how to draw Nod, step by step. There are more characters to submit so I will look into working on them as well. Here is the fun so enjoy. I will be back tomorrow with more drawing fun.
