How to Draw Brave, Merida

1

Make a nice circle shape for Merida's head guide then sketch in the facial lines which will help you draw in her face easier.

2

Using the head guide you just made, begin sketching out the structure of her chubby style face. You will also need to draw in the curly lining for her hair that falls on her face, shoulders and back.

3

Next, slowly draw out the shapes of her eyes which are pretty simple because they are rounded in shape. Sketch in her small button nose, as well as the outlining of her mouth which will be in a surprised expression.

4

We will now sketch in the rest of her facial features. Start by drawing the eyebrows, then draw in the actual eyeballs as well as color in the pupils. Finish the lining to form her lips and mouth like so. Also, be sure when you draw her eyebrows you

5

One of the things I love about Merida's character is her long curly red hair. You will slowly draw out the outline of her hair which should also be made using a wavy style stroke. Sketch in her neck as well as the shoulders.

6

You will now sketch in the detailing to her hair using strand lines. The lining should be drawn in a wavy pattern to capture her long curls. Add the back lining of her neck, then proceed to the last drawing step.

7

Make the lining for her collar as well as the detailing for the suit or dress that she is wearing. This is probably one of the more interesting characters as an archer that Disney created. Erase your mistakes throughout the drawing before you conside

When you have finished cleaning up the drawing your sketch should come out looking like the one you see here or close to it. Now you can color her in to perfection.

Description: Here is another lesson on Princess Merida from the new upcoming movie 'Brave'. I wanted to make sure that I have a tutorial called "how to draw Brave" because I know that people will search for that specific phrase on Dragoart looking for a tutorial on Merida. So here it is, and instead of making her in the soft drawing style I did last time, I chose to make Merida in a cartoon like style so that she will be that much easier to draw. I had a lot of fun with this lesson because I think that Merida is a real pretty princess. Her long red curly hair and bright colored eyes makes her so interesting to look at. Brave is going to be an awesome movie. It's probably going to be as popular as How to Train Your Dragon just a bit better. What I like about the plot to Brave is how the princess rebels against her parents wishes to fulfill her destiny. Merida is a strong minded young lady that has a lot of spunk, courage and brains. Her horse is also a very good looking animal. I think it might be a Clydesdale style horse I'm not sure. Well I guess that's about it. I will return with more drawing fun so stay tuned in to see what I will upload next. Peace out and have fun folks!
