1

Make two circles, one for the head and the other for the body. Sketch in the facial guide and move to step two.

2

Using step two, sketch in the dog's eyes, nose, and mouth. Sketch in some of the chin, and then some of the brows.

3

You will now use the head guide to sketch in the structure of the Icelandic sheepdog's head, ears, and some of the neck and chest. The lining should be fluffy for texture detailing. As you can see in the thumbnail, Iceland sheepdog's are long haired

4

Draw the front legs and paws like so, and then with the front shoulder of the dog's leg, make sure that the lining has some long or fluffy strands. Make the toes, and then you can proceed to step five.

5

Continue to draw out the body using a long shaggy stroke especially for the belly and the back end. Draw the hind legs and back paws like so, and then sketch in some detailing on the body.

6

You will finish off this dog by drawing the rest of the back, and then sketch out the curled up shaggy, puffy tail. Clean up the drawing to see what you should have when you're done.

7

The line art looks like this when you are all done. Color in your Icelandic Sheepdog, and you're all done.

Description: I know I said I wasn’t going to do any more animals for a while, but just recently, three brand new dog breeds have been added to the AKC or American Kennel Club. I will begin by showing you "how to draw an Icelandic Sheepdog", step by step. The Icelandic sheepdog was brought to Iceland from 874 to 930 AD by the Vikings. They were mainly used as work dogs for herding sheep, cattle, and even horses. Now because this breed took to herding in Iceland’s harsh climates so well, that the sheepdog became a required breed for farmers and Icelandic folk. What is cool about the Icelandic Sheepdog is they are both a herding dog as well as a good pet to have. They have super temperaments, love to play and are very friendly and smart. They look like a cross between a chow and husky, but they are definitely beautiful. Their coats come in a variety of colors like red, tan, gold, and black. When I said that they are a new breed, what I meant to say is that they are a new breed that is recognized by the AKC. They have been around for a while, but they have not been part of AKC. Anyways, you should enjoy this lesson because it’s on a great breed of dog. I will get busy with uploading more lessons as you can get busy trying out this tutorial. Have fun with drawing an Icelandic sheepdog, and be sure to rate, or comment.
