This happened in the story. My friend died, going into a place between life an death. There she had to choose, if she wanted to die, or she wanted to live. But if she choose to live, there would be something wrong with her. She chose to live after a thought and now this curse as set upon her. 12 in the morning she's a hybrid. 12 at noon and she's human. :D
