In this next tutorial you will be learning how to draw another fashion object that has been fashionable starting in the late eighties and became a big phenomenon all through the nineties. As a matter of fact the two people that are experts on this fashion trend that I know of are my parents. This style has been the current theme for many kids and even adults all the way to today. Now since my mom was a teen growing up in the nineties, she clued me in on how the “baggy pants or jeans” started to become popular. Back then music artists and television stars had a big influence on the fashion of 1990. According to my mom the baggy jeans style started with the skateboarders and hip hop artist style fused into what we now call grunge, ghetto, or Goth. A hip hop duo called Kris Kros was the first to put the "baggy" in style when they wore their jeans backwards. Yes I said backwards meaning the back pockets were in the front and the front pockets were in the back. When that trend took off the only thing that changed was wearing the jeans the wrong way. Young men and woman both embarked on this new fashion craze which was plainly seen when artist like Salt and Pepper started wearing clothes that weren't so curve appealing along with another all girl trio called TLC. When you mention that you wear“ghetto style” clothes, which usually mean that you dress with wearing pants that are so baggy that they are almost three sizes too big. These types of pants are held up with a belt and the individual usually wears either two pairs of boxers or a pair of boxers, a pair of basketball shorts and then their “baggy jeans”. If you said that you wear grunge type clothing this usually means that your pants are still baggy, but not to the point that they would fall off if no belt was present. And lastly the Goth style is again baggy pants that have a wide flare going down the leg and they are accompanied with a bunch of chains and zippers. This fashion trend is of the few trends that have never subsided over time. It also seems like some of the old fashion styles from the fifties through the seventies is coming back in a big way also. Fashion is something that changes over periods of time, some of the old trends may return, and some of them stay with us until were sixty. This tutorial will show you how to draw baggy pants step by step. This lesson shows you a simple way to create a pair of baggy jeans in little. The best part is you can color the pants any color you want when you are done. I will be back with more in a bit so stay tuned.

How to Draw Pants

how to draw baggy pants step 1

STEP 1.

Start this step by drawing a few straight guidelines as shown for the frame of the baggy pants. You will then start sketching in the mid lining of the pants as you see here. Remember you are going for a baggy look so make sure that your sketching conveys that.

STEP 2.

You will now start drawing out the baggy lining on the outside of the pants to make a nice outer shape of the pants. Start adding the shape of the shoes or sneakers next.

STEP 3.

As you can see in this step you will start to sketch in the wrinkled detailing lines to define the baggy pants as shown. Add the waist line and then complete the lining on the bottom of the pants. You will also finish off drawing the sneakers and then detail them as well. Make sure your pants have enough detailing wrinkle lines so that they have that "baggy" appearance.

STEP 4.

This is your last drawing step and what you will do here is first erase all the guidelines that you drew in step one. After that you will sketch in the pocket lining as well as the crease and wrinkle lines. Add a button for the waist and then the wrinkle lines on the bottom of the pants as you can see here. You will then detail the sneakers with more detail and then you can go to the last step.
