I know that you must be thinking I am a work-aholic. But the truth is I really love drawing, I mean I love it so much that I draw every single day. I buy books on how to become a better artist every month, and every night I practice drawing different things. I know that I am not perfect at everything but I believe that I am getting better. If you look back at some of my old tutorials they look way different than the ones I submit now. You can see how my work has gotten better over a years time. I know that many of you are growing artist as well, and I only hope that you find my tutorials helpful in some way shape or form. I have been doing a lot of sketching on paper lately because I find that I need to feel the texture of a pencil hitting the paper on my finger tips. In this next tutorial I wanted to draw another Disney character from my past because I thought that many of you would want to learn from this particular lesson. So now I will show you how to draw Dumbo the elephant. I know right? I love Dumbo too, he is such an adorable little elephant that doesn't deserve the treatment he gets from his fellow elephants and humans alike. This animated Disney movie is about a circus elephant named Mrs. Jumbo. Now she was expecting an arrival from the stork one day while all the circus animals were being transported by train. As the expecting mother anxiously waited for her little one, she was accompanied by her other circus elephants Catty, Giddy, and Prissy. When she finally receives her delivery everyone is waiting to see what he looks like. Finally Mrs. Jumbo opens up the sheet and reveals little Jumbo Jr. but to the other elephants they call him Dumbo because he has humongous elephant ears. He later gets ripped apart from his mother because she tried to protect him from a human boy that was making fun of him. As he sat there all alone and scared he meets up with a mouse named Timothy Q. Mouse. His new found friend helps him take control over his situation and regain the respect he deserves. While he teaches him how to do this, one day they both found out that little Dumbo could fly using his ears. This makes Dumbo an instant star and because of his big old' ears everyone falls in love with him and he gets reunited with his mother. In this cute tutorial I will show you how easy it is to draw Dumbo the elephant step by step. I hope you enjoy this lesson, I will be back soon with more drawing tutorials soon.

Step 1.

Okay lets start this first simple step with a perfect circle for the shape of his head and then add his facial guidelines. You will then draw two half hooked line shapes for his ears and the the guidelines for his legs, trunk, and hat. So far it's simple right?

Step 2.

Okay next you will first draw the butterfly wing shape for his ears and then sketch out more of the hats shape. You will then begin making the lining for his cheek and trunk as well as his thick elephant legs. See the jagged lining on the right side of his neck? Add that as well and then move down to the next step.

Step 3.

Now you will draw the top part of Dumbo's ears and then add his small olive shaped eyes. Sketch in the crinkle on the top of his nose and then draw the other side of his scarf. You will then add the shapes of his hind legs which are circles.

Step 4.

Well guess what? You have reached the forth step which means that you are almost done. You will start this step by finishing off the hat and then give him some pupils and cheek lines under the corners of his eyes. Next add some ruffle to his scarf and then sketch out the rest of the front legs and feet as well as the stomach line and hind legs. You will now move down to your last drawings step.

Step 5.

Well you finally made it to the last step which means you are all done after you sketch in some of the remaining detailed definitions. You will give him a few wrinkled lines above his eyes which will be his brow and then add some wrinkle detail to his knees and then add his toe nails and then color in his pupils. You will then start erasing all the guidelines and shapes that you drew in step one. That is it clean up your work.

Step 6.

He is all done. You have just completed this tutorial on how to draw Dumbo the elephant step by step. All you have to do now is color him in and that's it. I will be back in a bit with more drawing fin so stayed tuned all you artist out there.
