How to Draw Sally
Well hello again folks I am back today with some awesome tutorials. This first tutorial is going to be on a character from one of my favorite movies called Nightmare Before Christmas. So having said that you will learn "how to draw Sally" the Ragdoll. Sally is a character based on a hand stitched female ragdoll made form the great doctor Finklestein. His character is portrayed as a “mad scientist” in the movie. Finklestein is also responsible for the creation of the skeleton reindeer for Jacks sled. Lets get back to Sally shall we? Anyways Sally is almost kept a prisoner by her creator and she often poisons his food with sleeping agents so that she can sneak out of the house. Sally has a very different personality and mind set from the other residents that live in Halloween Town. She wants to be something more and she knows that she can do it as long as she is not held down by her creator. When Doctor Finklestein made Sally he was going for either a maid or a companion. But since she came out some what of a rebel and had no interest of being kept cooped up in his dungeon like home, he then later created a different companion for himself. Sally also has a crush on Jack Skellington. She has the ability to foresee the future and what she see's for Jacks big master plain is not good. At first Jack is unaware that Sally loves him. She also tries to tell Jack that what he is about to do is a bad idea. But because Jack is so caught up in the idea that he can do a better job with Christmas, he follows with his plains. Sally is later held captive by the evil Oggie Boogie when she attempts to save Santa. Jack eventually comes to her rescue and the two finally hook up. I thought that a tutorial on Sally would be sweet so here she is. I have to say that she was pretty challenging to do because of all the detailing. There is a total of eight steps to this tutorial so you must take your time when attempting this character. You will learn "how to draw Sally Skellington", step by step. I hope you like this one because I know I do. I think she came out awesome. I will be back in a bit with more drawing fun so stay tuned.

STEP 1.
Okay are you ready for this tutorial on Sally? Lets start by drawing a circle for her head and then add the facial guidelines. You will then draw her neck line and then an oval shape for her torso. From the torso shape draw the outline of her dress her legs and then her feet. you will next add the the lining for her arms as well.
STEP 2.
In this next step you will start sketching out her the bottom part of her face which is her jaw and then the outlined shape of her neck. You will now start drawing the shoulders and shirt sleeves as well as placing a "V" shape line for the top of her dress. Sketch out the shape of her breast and then begin sketching out the bottom part of her dress as well as her leg shape.
STEP 3.
Now you will start adding in some facial features such as her eyeball which are like egg shaped circles. Next make the shape of her arms and then the rest of the shape for her sown together legs. You will also need to add the lining for her raggedy socks.
STEP 4.
Okay as you can see Sally will start looking like herself once this step is complete. Now because she is stitched together, you will start drawing out the lines that are scattered on her dress. She has like a block like pattern on her dress and you will later add the stitch lines. For her head and face you will draw the outlining for her long hair and then her big smile. You will also add her nose and then some eyelids. Detail her kegs by adding cupped lines for knee caps then detail her socks.
STEP 5.
In this next step what do you think you will tackle first? That is right her face. You will thicken the shape and style of her hair by drawing another line around the other you did in the previous step. Next give sally some eyelashes and then add the stitching lines on her smile or mouth. You will next add the stitching lines to the top half of her dress as shown. You will also add some more lines on her neck, chest and legs that will be stitched later.
STEP 6.
In this step all you will do is take the time to add all the cross stitched lines to make her body and dress look like she was sown together. After you are done you can then move to the next step.
STEP 7.
Since this is your last drawing step you will now start erasing all the guidelines and shapes that you drew in step one. after that you will then start drawing in all the different looking patterns that are scattered through out her dress. When you are done you can move down to the next step.
STEP 8.
And here she is! You did it, you have just finished this tutorial on How to Draw Sally The Ragdoll from The Nightmare Before Christmas. All you have to do is color her in and that is all. I will be back with more tutorials in a bit so stay tuned folks.Comments: Post Comment
