Okay, so I put up my first out of the ordinary tutorial on some candles. This next tutorial will show you how to draw a window. I know what you are thinking, why is she doing a tutorial on a window? All I can say to you is, “why not”? I mean think about it, windows are a part of almost everything and they are seen and used everywhere. Without windows we would live in a box without no means of seeing who is out there when someone knocks, what to look at when we are sitting around, and finally no way to let clean fresh air into our homes, the beam of sunlight into our kitchens, and the smell of flowers growing during springtime. The window was in use as early as the early 13th century and back then they were referred to as being holes in the walls and roofs. When the window was first created they were just plain old holes on the sides of houses or huts. Than as time pasted and people got smarter, they were holes that were covered with animal hide, hay, cloth and wood. Before humans came out with the concept of a film such as glass or plastic to fill the holes with, they built and used shutters instead. Shutters were easily built and made from wood that were placed on the outside of the window hole. It was made so that anyone could open and close the shutter from the inside and they usually locked with a hook latch of some sorts. It wasn’t until the mid 1800s that the first rolled window glass became available for folks to use in their homes and businesses. The window is something that I believe mankind cannot live without. This is because our sanity and well being comes from the feeling that we as humans need a sense of freedom when we work in our buildings, or live in our homes. What would it be like to live in a house with no way to look out at the world? Or work in a building not knowing what time of the day it is or to feel that you are still a part of the world even though you are temporarily cooped up? I know that if I was to live in a world with no windows I would probably go insane. It is said that the window shows you a glimpse of your future if gazed into it properly. Now I don’t know about that but I do believe that you can at least see what’s going on and what the weather is like. There are many different types of windows with the most common being bay windows, double hung windows, a bow window and glass block windows. No matter the style the same purpose it serves. So without further ado it is now time to learn how to draw a window step by step. Maybe next time I will teach you how to draw a window scene as well. But for now why don’t you tackle this tutorial and I will be back with some more drawing fun in a bit.
