STEP 1.
Start out by picking your pencils. I used an HB pencil for sketching, an H for light shading/lines, and finally B/2B pencils for dark lines/shading.
STEP 2.
Start out with a light/basic sketch of the monkey. Use the guidelines I've provided if you need to.
STEP 3.
Once you have the basic sketch down go head and shade in the background. I used an HB pencil and a paper towel for this.
STEP 4.
Go ahead and roughly shade in the monkey's face and the its darker fur. I'm still using an HB for this.
STEP 5.
Now use an H or HB to start defining your lines. I like starting my details at the eyes and moving outwards.
STEP 6.
Shade in the eyes using a B or 2B pencil.
STEP 7.
Use the H pencil to work on the monkey's skin and the B to fill in the nostrils and define the mouth.
STEP 8.
Use the H to define the hair that's growing over the forehead.
STEP 9.
Use the B and 2B pencil to add in the dark hair on top of the head.
STEP 10.
Go ahead and work on the left-side outline. You can use a B or H pencil for this.
STEP 11.
Define a few strands of hair on the left-side and use the H again to roughly shade the area under and around the monkey's chin.
STEP 12.
Go ahead and sketch in a few strands of hair on the right-side to help guide you in the next steps.
STEP 13.
Define the right-side hair and use a B or 2B to outline the hair.
STEP 14.
Continue working on you outline. Do your best to make your lines as clean as possible.
STEP 15.
Finish up your drawing by reworking your lines and shading. I had a lot of fun with this little guy and I'm sure you will as well!Comments: Post Comment
