This monkey is going to be drawn from the side. Begin by making a small circle for the head and then draw in the lines that form the stick figure body.

2

Begin sketching out the structure of the head including the face or snout. Draw in the ears like you see here and then draw out the neck.

3

Draw in the face markings that ends up looking like a mask. Draw in the bold insect like eyes, and color them in as well. Next, draw out the muzzle by making mouth. Sketch in the ear detailing.

4

Draw in the arm and notice how I drew it long and flexible looking. Make sure that the hand or fingers are added properly, and then get busy with draw out the back, stomach, back end, and hind leg and foot.

5

Draw in the other arm, followed by the other long leg. Notice how the back foot's toes look like fingers. Sketch in some calf muscle detailing and then draw out the long tail with some fluff at the tip.

6

And finally lets finish this lesson by simply drawing out the long sturdy branch that belongs t a very big tropical tree. Sketch in the detailing to the tree limb by making it look like bark. Erase the messy sketch lines and that's it.

Here is the finished line art when you are all done. Color in your spider monkey to make it look better than it does now.

Description: Here’s a monkey I never drew before, and with much surprise, it’s not as cute as I thought it was going to be. Up next we will venture off into the unknown as we tackle the task of learning "how to draw a spider monkey", step by step. These interesting primates have a look all of their own. They live in the tropical rainforests of both South and Central America. One of the main reasons why these monkeys earned their odd names is because that is exactly what they look like, spiders. They have these long stringy arms, torsos, legs and most importantly, tails. Spider monkeys find it much easier to get around by using their long lanky tails. They travel from branch to branch as they hop on the trees from the tropics. Like a lot of the primate species, the spider monkey is also an animal that loves being social. Because of this they prefer to live in groups. Now, when I say groups I don’t mean groups of ten or twenty monkeys. I’m talking about a number far more than that, how about they live in groups by the dozen. Normal groups tend to be anywhere from two or three dozen. If you were to compare a spider monkey to a six foot human, you would find that they are only two feet, and weigh only about thirteen pounds. Let’s see, what else can I tell you…Oh yeah, did you know that spider monkeys eat all sorts of stuff? It’s true; they eat anything from nuts, fruits, and leaves, to eggs and spiders. I guess you could say that this is one little mammal that can get around and be efficient. I hope you like my version of this animal as you start the task of drawing a spider monkey. Adios peeps, and peace out!
