In this first step you will be sketching out the guidelines and shapes of the dragons back body. Start by making a small circle for the head and then two lines for the horns. Next make a long curved line for the neck and then attach it to a circle fo

In this next step you will start sketching out the structure of the head and back area. Start by drawing a skull shaped face as shown which resembles a lot like scissors. You will then draw out the shape of the horn and then start sketching out the d

This is where the steps are gonna start to seem tricky. You will sketch more detail on the face which includes the jaw line and neck thickness. You will also start drawing out the outlining of his body as you can see. This includes the shape of the w

In this next step all you will be doing is detailing the dragon to no end. Start by detailing and defining the frills by making them look like they have cartilage separating the frill pieces. After you get done with that you can now start detailing a

This step just involves simple sketch detailing lines. Draw the teeth and detail the neck, frills, lower back, tail, foot and sketch in the wing that is on the other side. When you are done here you can move onto the next step.

You can start erasing all the guidelines and shapes that you drew in step one to clean up your artwork. Then after you are done with that it is time to add the last finishing touches on the dragons wing as well as the body. Sketch skin lines so that

This is what your dragon should end up looking like when you are done. Now you can color him in and that is it you are done. If you want you can draw in the scales which is a very simple process. That is it for me today I will be back tomorrow with m

Description: Hello DragoArt people! I greet you warmly and fiery with an awesome tutorial based on the back view of a dragon. Today we will be learning how to draw a back view of a green dragon. This dragon shouldn’t be hard at all. It falls in the intermediate category because of the detailing. Everyone already knows that I love dragons. So today I will give you a special treat. First let me give you a small biography of what I went through when I was drawings this dragon. I thought to myself, “I don’t have any dragons from the front or back view”. So that is when I made the decision to do a tutorial that will show people on how to draw a dragon from the back view. The process for drawing this dragon was really long. I must have spent six hours straight to finish just the drawing. That is because the position itself was a challenge. Now, because I draw a lot of side views and no different views on how to draw dragons, drawing the back view was really difficult to get right. The coloring was really hard too. I had to make every scale that is on this beast. The scales took most of the work. As you can see in the picture, there are two sides. There is the fire and ice side. The fire is fighting the ice. Every time the fire defeats one of the ice spirits, they absorb it. The same goes for the ice side. I used a Wacom tablet to draw out the whole dragon plus the coloring. I also used Adobe Photoshop CS3. For all of you who don’t know what Photoshop is, let me tell you. Photoshop is a program that most artists use to draw and color in it. I use this program with every single one of my drawings. Well anyways, I hope you will enjoy learning how to draw a dragon from the back view. I made this tutorial for all you dragon fans. Have fun learning!
