How to Draw a Dog Head
Hey guys, here's a lovely lesson for ya'll! I know I haven't uploaded anything cool for a while, so I decided to draw up a cool dog head, baring it's teeth viciously. This was drawn live a few days ago and I had lots of fun with the teeth and large tongue. Drawing wolf or other canine faces, especially baring their teeth is pretty entertaining. A little tip for when you draw a canine's mouth widely open such as this: be sure to draw the outer part of the mouth first before you move onwards to the teeth. A canine's incisors are very prominent and at the back of the jaw, tapers human type molars. Usually, artists tend to forget about this important aspect, and draw all teeth similar to the incisors. Anyways, I've got to get a roll on and work on other tuts. I hope this one was pretty easy and fun as I had creating it. By practicing the head of a dog, you'll find it easier to draw the animal as a whole. Have fun and don't forget to comment and rate! Let me know if you've tried this drawing yourself.

STEP 1.
Draw a circle for the dog's head and then draw out the long neck line and one face guide.
STEP 2.
As you can see here you will begin sketching out the very long and broad dog snout which has a wrinkled bridge. When that is done draw in the forehead and brow. Remember, you are drawing a dog's head from the side view.
STEP 3.
Draw the lip of the dogs snout and then draw the wide open growling mouth like you see here which should include the bottom jaw and cheek. Draw in the brow and shape of the eye as well.
STEP 4.
All you will do here is sketch out all the wrinkles and creases on the dogs snout, under the eye, and around the opening of the mouth. Next, draw in the nose tip and nostril holes as well as the eyeball.
STEP 5.
Now that you have the basics drawn in, you can begin sketching out each tooth from k-9 to the back of the mouth. Draw out the tongue and move to step six.
STEP 6.
You are almost done with this lesson. All you have to do is draw out the rest of the teeth, and then add detailing to the middle of the tongue. When that is done draw the other side of the dog's mouth and then proceed on.
STEP 7.
Draw the pointed ears and be sure to add some rips or tears on the edges of the ear. You will then draw out the back of the dog's neck and then if you want you can add an earring.
STEP 8.
Draw the underside of the neck, and then sketch in the muscle definition and detailing like so. When that is done draw the detailing for the ears, and then add some marking inside of the eye. Erase the lines and guides that you drew in step one.
STEP 9.
Here is what your drawing looks like when you are all done. Color in your mean looking dog head and then you are all done.Post a comment
