How to Draw Mantis, Master Mantis, Kung Fu Panda

1

These shapes may look a little strange, but they will all come together in the end. Draw out a shape for the head of Mantis, and then draw a triangular shape for the body like you see here. When that is all done you can add the neck, and eye lines.

2

Thicken the shape of his face and then draw out the bulging eyeballs. You will then add the horn like frills on the sides of the face, and move to step three when you are all done.

3

Draw out and color in the eyes, and then draw in the characteristics on the face like the nose and mouth. Add some hair strands in between the eyes or on top of the head.

4

Sketch out the upper body and then begin drawing out the long, extremely skinny legs on Mantis.

5

It's now time to start drawing out his arms and as you can see the forearms look a little like butter knives. The edges should be serrated, and the belly of Mantis should be drawn in as well.

6

Draw out the rest of his twig like legs like you see here. You shouldn't have any problems in this area because the legs are very simple concepts to create. If you look with an open eye, Mantis' legs look a little like chopsticks. Draw in his blade l

7

You are almost done with this tutorial and as you can see all you need to do is draw out the back end of Mantis' body. Make the layers, and then draw out the four feet. Add the lines on his legs and move to the last drawing step. If you want you can

8

Now all that's left to do now is draw out the marking on the back and when you are done that's it.

Now that you got your tutorial on drawing Master Mantis, you can show everybody that you can actually draw him. Color him in and you are all done with this lesson. Great work.

Description: When I uploaded baby Po from Kung Fu Panda, there was a comment that said I still didn’t have lessons on Mantis or Crane. At first I was like, “yes I do”, but after looking through the site I came to the conclusion that I did not have either one of those characters as lessons. So here is "how to draw Mantis", or Master Mantis, step by step from both Kung Fu Panda, and Kung Fu Panda 2. I actually went to go see the movie on Wednesday, and I can see why so many people asked for a tutorial on baby Po. Anyways Master Mantis is one of the Furious Five, and even though he may be the smallest of the five, he is definitely the strongest. Aside from being a highly skilled and strong master Kung Fu artist, he is also an acupuncturist. If you remember KFP one, you might recollect that Mantis was the first of the five to accept Po as an individual, instead of a noodle making dreamer. I have always liked Mantis, and in the second part to KFP, Master Mantis’ background is explored and brought to the viewer’s eyes. I do hope you like this tutorial on "how to draw Mantis", and if you stick around you will also have fun with even more tutorials that will be on their way shortly. Adios people and enjoy!
