The wild boar is an animal species that gets mixed reviews on the type of species it is. Some people think that they are just as the same as farm pigs, but that is the farthest thing from the truth. Unlike the pink or white colored pigs we are familiar with, boars are animals that do not originally come from North America. Instead they are native to Europe and they where brought over by the Spaniard back in the 1500s sometime. Over the years, the wild boar became a pig that was hunted for sport because they lived in high wooded or forest like areas. Now because they grow to become very large, they are considered to be a prized kill. Boars can weigh up to three hundred pounds, and grow to be five feet in length. Unlike pigs, both males and females have tusks, with the males having longer ones. Boars also have thick hides and rough black fur that is also very coarse. One thing that these animals do the same as farm pigs is roll around in mud baths. They do this because they do not have sweat glands. To cool themselves down they will roll in cool watery mud that quenches their bodies ten fold. Contrary to what people believe pigs to be, they are also very fast and excellent swimmers. Female boar will give birth to one litter per year with litter sizes ranging between five and fourteen babies. They eat grass, nuts, roots, fruits, mushrooms, bugs, and whatever else they can get their noses in. This will definitely be a simple lesson to follow because drawing a boar is not that hard. They are relatively solid animals which means they have little folds, creases or wrinkles. I hope you enjoy this tutorial, I will be back with some more drawing fun soon.

How to Draw a Boar, Wild Boar

how to draw a boar, wild boar step 1

STEP 1.

Start by making some shapes. The body should be in the form of an egg, and the head should be a regular circle. Next, add the one facial guideline, and then the two leg lines.

STEP 2.

In step two we will start sketching out the shape of the boar's facial structure which is very long, and somewhat narrow. Start this step with drawing out the oblong shape for the snout. You will then sketch in the sides like so.

STEP 4.

Finish sketching out the eyes and color them in too. When that is done you can sketch in the snout and be sure to add those nose tip wrinkles and mouth definitions.

STEP 5.

Slowly draw out the boar's back which should be slightly rounded or arches. The back should also turn into a tail and be sure to sketch in the tuft at the end of the tail.

Now that you are on step six, you can start sketching out the front legs and feet like so, and then draw out the chest and stomach. When that is done you can add some detailing and definition to the body as well.

Now you are ready to draw out the back legs and then the feet. Once that is done you can begin erasing the lines and shapes that you drew in step one to clean up the drawing.

STEP 8.

For the last step all you have to do is sketch in the toes and be sure there is three, then draw in the marking lines on the legs and belly. You already erased the guides in the previous step so now you are ready to see how your boar should look.

Here is your finished drawing of a nice plump boar. I meant to tell you that I drew a big boar with a lot of meat on it's bones. I hope you had fun drawing a boar.
