You will start this drawing lesson by making two shapes, one for the head, and the other for the body. Next, connect both shapes by drawing a chest and back line and then draw in one guideline for the face.

2

Begin sketching out the shape of the gerbil's head structure starting at the bridge of the nose, and then forehead. You will draw in the short rounded ears, and then add that little piece of fur on top of the head like so and also make sure to make t

Using the facial guidelines you drew in step one, you will now begin drawing out the almond shaped eye and before you color it in know that gerbils can either have ruby red colored eyes or straight black colored eyes. Sketch in some whiskers, and the

Now it's time to begin drawing out the gerbil's body. Start behind the ear, and slowly draw the neck, and arched back. You will then draw in the front of the neck and chest as well as one arm and paw or front foot.

Gerbils have kangaroo shaped hind legs and feet, keeping that in mind begin drawing out the hind leg, and one foot. Add in the toes like so and draw in the bottom part to the belly.

Lastly, draw out the other hand or paw, and then draw in the other hind leg, and foot. Sketch in the long tail and be sure to sketch out the tuft at the tip. Draw in the fur marking lines and then erase the shapes and lines you drew in step one.

Here is what your furry friend looks like when you are all done drawing your gerbil. I do hope you had a blast with this tutorial, now you can show everyone what you have created. Thanks guys and be sure to join me with another lesson.

Description: There is an animal that people keep as pets that I have never made a tutorial out of. I have lessons on hamsters, rabbits, and other caged pets, but I never taught you guys "how to draw a gerbil". If you're confused on what exactly a gerbil is, let me explain. They are sometimes confused with hamsters, but they look more like mice. They have a long tail just like a mouse, but at the tip of the tail is a bundle of fur or a tuft. Unlike mice, the tails are also covered by fur, and the gerbils whiskers seem to be a bit longer. Like the hamster they are active in their cage, and seem to keep their owners entertained without a question. They like to play, they don't bit, and if you are not one of those people that gets creeped out over rodents, the gerbil is a very friendly pet to hold and admire. Kids love watching gerbils because they are small animals that do crazy things. Gerbils come in a variety of colors but the most common is the two toned shade of tan, and white. One of the great things about owning a gerbil is the fact that they don't require a lot of room, their cages give off little or no odor, you don't have to really maintain them as much as you would with a rat, mouse, or hamster, and they won't nip at your fingers, hands, or face. I never owned a gerbil before but my cousin did and I can remember watching that little thing play all the time. She named him Stash because he had a weird line that went straight across his lip under the nose. Stash was a cool gerbil and even though I forgot to draw that small dash like line on him, the gerbil in the lesson is based on Stash. I think you will enjoy drawing a gerbil because even though they are from the rodent family, they are much cuter to look at than a mouse or rat. Have fun guys and remember to stick around to see what else I have in store for ya'll.
