Description: This is going to be a tutorial on another bird that we are all familiar with. Today you will be learning how to draw a hooded vulture. The hooded vulture is a mangy looking scavenging bird that lives in southern Egypt to eastern Africa. These types of vulture live amongst humans with ease just like a common stray dog or cat. In the African plains, they can be found near the markets that are scattered throughout villages and they can also be found near garbage areas like dump sites or landfills. The hooded vulture is the smallest of the vulture family. Their size is only a little bigger than the common black crow ranging around 26 inches long. Along with their small stature, these birds are one of the most recognizable of the vulture species. Hooded vultures are the ones that have bare skin of the neck and face. Now because these birds have no feathers on their head, face and neck area, it is plain to see when they start feeling excited or aggressive because the neck and face become dark pink as the blood vessels dilate, almost like when you or I blush. These birds are brown in color especially when they reach adult stage. The hooded vultures get their name because of the way their feathers flare out around the bottom of the neck almost looking like a hooded shirt or sweater. The feathers for this area are usually white or light brown in color and they are long as well. They have rough looking legs and feet and they also feed on just about anything especially rotting carnage from previous kills by lions, hyenas, or any other carnivore that hunts for a living. They also feed on lizards, termites and any other small creatures that they can sink their beaks into, plus they will also peck on dead fish that lay along seashores. Another fact that most people don’t know about the vulture is that they are relatively clean birds that bathe on a frequent basis despite their scrawny and swanky looking image. In this tutorial you will learn "how to draw a vulture", step by step. As difficult they may seem to draw, this tutorial makes it easy enough to learn. Sit back and relax while you start drawing your vulture. I will be back with more tutorials in a bit so hang tight.
