How to Draw Beards, How to Draw a Beard

1

This is basically showing you the angle of flow that the beard should have. If you notice, a beard is drawn from just under the bottom lip, and arched upward to the side-burn. The side of the beard covers the jawline and even under the chin and neck

2

Here is just a drawing of a typical beard that is neatly maintained. We call these types of beards, line-ups. Mustaches are sometimes trimmed right at the ends before connecting to the beard or goatee, and sometimes men just let the facial hair flow

3

Lastly here is just some head shots of the many different types of styles of beards. As you can see the heads and faces don't change on each model, but the beards do which makes each one look different.

4

Now lets start. We are only drawing two of the head models just so you can get a good fell as to how to begin drawing a beard. First draw two circles for the heads, and then draw in two cone like shapes for the jaws and chin.

5

Let's start sketching out the shapes of the face which is only going to be the side profile. Start at the middle of the face and begin sketching out the nose. Slowly move down to drawing out the mouth, lips, and then the squared chin and jaw.

6

Sketch out the ears like so, and then add some simple sharp detailing inside of the ears and even draw a simple earring if you like. Next, draw out the eyes, and move to step seven.

7

Now you will sketch out or quickly draw out the hairstyles which is obviously the same. Notice how the head model to the right is missing some side-burns. That's because you will be drawing out a beard in the next step.

8

Now you will simply sketch out the beards, and as you can see the ones I drew are very sharp. The beard to the right is long, and pretty lumberjack-ish. When the beards are drawn in, you can then sketch out the necks, and then add some detailing too.

Here is the finished drawing when you are all done. Hopefully you learned how to draw a beard using this lesson. Thanks for joining me for this tutorial, and be sure to come back again real soon.
